Job description

We are looking for an experienced and skilled maintenance technician to perform routine repairs and preventative maintenance.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to; applying basic fixes to equipment and building systems while ensuring properties are tidy and functional. The worker will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned properties and rentals; including plumbing, electrical, and basic carpentry.

Applicants must be reliable, have a keen eye for detail, & be able to appropriately troubleshoot maintenance request. The ideal candidate will have experience and be able to complete jobs in a timely manner. Candidates must also possess manual dexterity and physical stamina.

Valley Maintenance is a sister company of Rocktown Realty. A lot of our work is from their property managers and sales agents. We also serve the community in residential home repair and remodeling throughout the city of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Performing preventative maintenance.
• Handling basic repairs.
• Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical issues.
• Repairing machines, equipment, or structures as necessary.
• Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel, and follow safety protocols.
• Complete all work orders in a timely, professional, and courteous manner.
• Clean up thoroughly before leaving a unit, or at the end of each work session.
• Work with the leasing office on scheduling service to maximize resident satisfaction.

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years’ experience preferred.
• Routine and emergency repairs.
• Diagnose and solve problems related to systems, appliances, & structures.
• Moderate level of knowledge in electrical, plumbing and HVAC.
• Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
• Cosmetic & touch up painting skills.
• Good verbal and written communication.

Schedule:

• 8-hour shift
• Monday to Friday 8-4:30; Occasional on-call rotation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.79 - $40.00 per hour
