St. Paul’s Senior Services is excited to announce an amazing opportunity to be part of San Diego’s St. Paul's PACE program (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly). This innovative program is for individuals 55 years or older, who are living with chronic illness, or disabilities and need coordinated medical care to continue living as independently as possible in their home and community. The healthcare teams at St. Paul’s PACE provide a hands-on approach coordinating medical, social, and home care services so individuals no longer need to manage their medical care alone.

Job Summary:
The Staff Chaplain/Spiritual Counselor is responsible for the delivery of Spiritual care to Participants, their loved ones, and staff. Provides for the religious needs through community Clergy, arranges services, bible studies, group meetings, and individual service, for those we serve. Functions in such a manner that reflects the mission and vision of St. Paul’s PACE.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participates in delivering and arranging for appropriate Spiritual care to Participants, their loved ones and staff.
• Actively participates in the delivery of Spiritual care, responds to requests for Spiritual care in a timely manner, participates in the offering of worship opportunities, and participates in the meeting of spiritual and sacramental needs.
• Willingness to work with and meet the spiritual needs of people of all religious faiths, age, gender, sexual orientation, race, and ethnic backgrounds
• Participates in regular and special religious services at all St. Paul’s Senior Services facilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must have compassion for the elderly
• Must have demonstrable knowledge and skill necessary to provide a safe spiritual environment and communicate effectively with all age groups of Participants, staff, and clients served by St. Paul’s PACE.
• Clean automobile driving record with ability to drive to various locations
• Able to attend to spiritual emergency situations in acute hospitals, as needed, outside of regular business hours.

Education and/or Experience:

• M. Div. Degree or its equivalent.
• Four units of CPE Clinical Spiritual Education desired.
• Ordination by a recognized religious body.
• A minimum of two years’ experience as a Spiritual Counselor in a healthcare setting is essential.
