Youth Care Worker
Sipe's Orchard Home has provided services for children and youth for 75 years. Our non-profit organization is a leader in the transitional living service by providing instruction and leadership in the development of youth independent living skills. The Youth Care Worker position provides oversight to an assigned group of youth aged 16-21. Youth Care Worker expectations include:

• Treats residents with care and respect.
• Helps residents and their families cope with the immediate effects of the decision to move to the facility.
• Completes mandatory documentation.
• Empowers residents and encourages resident choice in matters affecting them, demonstrating receptive attitudes and sensitivity to choices based on racial, cultural and ethnic heritage, and sexual orientation.
• Develop relationships with residents to assist them with processing their issues and utilizing life events as opportunities for learning relevant life skills.
• Transportation of residents to appointments, meetings, or other community contacts.
• Assist with daily schedules, meal times, house meetings, etc.
• Ensure proper medications are taken at assigned sequences and times as prescribed.
• Assist residents in meeting basic needs (food, clothing, hygiene, employment, etc.).
• Assist with educational needs, include providing tutoring as needed.
• Become familiar with the history of each resident.
• Cooperate with other members of the team and participate in planned meetings as required.

We are seeking 2 day/evening shift employees, and 1 overnight shift employee. (Note: shifts range from 10 to 14 hours, with a 3 or 4 day workweek.)

We are open to candidates who are new to the human services field. This position is frequently a good fit for graduate students in a human services related program.

Candidates must pass all regulatory checks required, have a valid NC Driver's License and a clear motor vehicle record.

Preference is given to candidates who have worked with youth in a residential program for at least a year.

Preference is given to candidates who have a qualified and accredited degree in a human service related field.

Wage is based upon a combination of education and experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
