Tuff Shed is recruiting for a Sr. Director of Support Services at our National Support Center in Denver, CO. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Sr. Director of Support Services will be responsible for the direct oversight of departments within Denver’s national support center including Engineering, Contractors and Fleet, and Customer Experience for nationwide factory stores. This position will lead these teams through mentoring, process improvement, and cross-functional team leadership with a focus on achieving superior performance in cost, quality and operations.

This position is based in Denver, CO.

Engineering

  • Directs and oversees the Engineering department, ensuring deliverables are met with key internal stakeholders while providing leadership to the Manager of Engineering and indirect supervision to the Engineering department
  • Deliver and implement a workload management system including job queue statistics including quantity, duration, and productivity measurements.
  • Guide technical project management to ensure timely execution of the engineering roadmap
  • Provide leadership and direction to the development strategies, engineering schedules, procedures, goals, and objectives
  • Ensure alignment of engineering projects with the company strategy and vision
  • Direct the Manager of Engineering to coordinate engineering project timelines, deliverables, budgets and KPIs
  • Develops the collaborative interaction with related groups such as sales, permitting, and scheduling.
Contractors & Fleet
  • Lead the company’s independent contractor program, Fleet Administration and DOT, while providing leadership to the Manager of Contractors & Fleet, influencing the infrastructure of DOT, Fleet, and safety programs
  • Oversee and influence the administration of fleet, new inventory and rental fleet management including cost and inventory control
  • Provide leadership of factory store operations on the capital acquisition process of fleet, and other shared services
  • Has oversight and administration of the analyses and evaluation on the condition of the fleet; makes recommendations on the size and composition of the fleet and establishment of replacement criteria
  • Coach and develop factory stores to monitor and improve fleet utilization, repair, and maintenance costs
  • Influence the oversight of warranty work, parts management, fuel management, repairs, disposition of assets, tags and registration, preventative maintenance, purchasing, contract management
  • Define the direction of planning and procurement for all vehicles across the company
  • Oversee and direct the independent contractor program, ensuring contractual, background checks, badging, insurance meets state requirements
  • Partners with legal, safety, and operations on digesting and taking action on fleet data and business intelligence such as driving habits, Electronic Log Devices, tracking tools
  • Partners with operations on the maintenance, sale and disposition of fleet assets
Customer Experience
  • Provide leadership and evolve multiple functions and teams to build, operate, and execute a world-class customer experience program for attracting, engaging, and retaining customers
  • Influence and oversee the strategy, planning and execution of the company’s overall Customer Experience goals and objectives
  • Define the scope and direction of the Customer Experience department, to include providing day-to-day direction to the Director of Customer Experience, developing company leaders, fostering collaboration
  • Develop and implement metrics and strategies for Customer Experience effectiveness by establishing, tracking, translating data and information from multiple sources into critical insights
  • Work with leadership across the Company to identify opportunities for process improvement and leverage data to prioritize identified opportunities. Integrate other department leaders to ensure other teams contribute to delivering a world-class customer experience
  • Oversee multiple projects, programs, and complex business processes
  • Drive business process transformation and continuous improvement. Enhance internal processes, identifying and implementing process solutions
  • Coach and develop talent, focusing on ongoing professional development and inspiring team members while cultivating and inclusive and innovative culture
Other
  • Must take the lead to interpret complex business processes for all functions
  • Use operations expertise to develop and implement process improvement principles and projects
  • Troubleshoot operations, management, and personnel challenges
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams on various projects
  • Develop and leadership of operations leadership teams including Customer Experience Director, Contractor & Fleet Manager, and Manager of Engineering
  • Must have strong financial acumen and understand company valuations, including cashflow models, comparative analyses, compensation
  • As a member of the key management group, must promote the Tuff Shed ESOP culture
  • Partner with the Vice President of Production to ensure an efficiently run cross functional environment
  • Identifies opportunities to introduce automation, artificial intelligence, and business process management into Tuff Shed's manufacturing environment
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Preferred experience in manufacturing and operations leadership in a construction environment including Truss Manufacturing, Framing, Structural Insulated Panels (SIP), or other building components
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and collaborate across multiple functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, analyze and interpret financial data; strong financial aptitude and focus on bottom-line results
  • Experience with business and management principles: budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation
  • Strong track record of enabling revenue growth through operational excellence in safety, quality, delivery
  • High level of strategic agility, excellent decision-making abilities, problem-solving skills and the demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement
  • Background in Lean Manufacturing or similar organizational efficiency platforms
  • Collaboration with key corporate departments including sales, finance, IT, accounting, HR, etc.
  • Hands-on computer skills in Microsoft Office and Internet applications required; experience in utilizing Customer Relations Management (CRM) software – including Oracle, JDE, Onyx, Salesforce.com, Goldmine or similar systems is highly preferred – including CPQ and FSL
  • Ability to solve problems using sound logic and good business judgment and high attention to detail, well-organized and good independent judgement
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of the Executive team
  • Strong management and leadership skills with a high degree of accountability, professionalism, ethics, and a commitment to a team approach
  • Team player with superior organizational, managerial, communications, and interpersonal skills that instill confidence and cooperation in construction, manufacturing, and production personnel at all levels
  • Demonstrate good working knowledge and experience in developing and implementing strategic plans, management policies, strategies, and systems
  • Excellent consultative skills with the ability to interact with and influence people across the company and enterprise (suppliers, vendors, customers) privately and publicly
  • Highly analytic and strategic with the ability to appreciate the big picture and context, and effectively implement the same in practical terms
  • Proven track record in improving operational processes

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or requisite experience preferred
