JOB
The Town of Needham is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the full-time position of Craftsworker. Under the supervision of the Working Foreman, the Craftsworker will perform technical labor to help maintain and repair the water, sewer, and drains system. CON #23102

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Perform tasks requiring specialized skill in the maintenance and operation of equipment, including pickup trucks, pump trucks, tractors, mowers, pumps, generators, snow removal equipment, sewer maintenance equipment, etc.Perform manual tasks requiring specialized skill or knowledge in assisting skilled tradesmen engaged in construction, maintenance, and repair workPerform a variety of manual tasks associated with connecting with valve operations, pipeline construction, and maintenance such as cleaning culverts and drains, manual labor tasks, hot mix asphalt placement, caulking lead joints, and assisting in valve installationsPerform repairs of valves and pipelines under pressure 6” to 24” in diameter and the chlorination of water mainsAssist outside contractors engaged in construction and repair activities; may act as a lead person on a maintenance work crewRespond to routine inquiries, requests and complaints from residents, contractors, and other Town departmentsOperate snow plowing, removal, sanding, and salting equipment; and provide emergency assistanceMaintain work area and equipment in a clean, safe, and operable condition and adhere to applicable safety and health rules and regulations; and endeavor to continuously improve services provided to taxpayersClean & inspect catch basins, sewer & drain lines, and structures

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements: To be considered for the position, applicants must have at least: A valid Driver’s license, CDL Class B, and Hoisting 2B licenseThree (3) to five (5) year of experience in a public works or similar environmentGeneral knowledge equivalent to a high school diploma and additional specialized coursesPreferred: CDL Tanker Endorsement, or the ability to acquire in the first 6 monthsCDL 4E Hydraulics License, or the ability to acquire in the 6 monthsOSHA 10 Occupational Safety and Health Training CertificatePre-Hire Process: For positions requiring a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), the Town of Needham conducts pre-employment drug testing and post-employment random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with U.S. DOT Regulations. For positions requiring unsupervised contact with children, elderly, or disabled persons, criminal offender record information checks are required
