This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a LiDAR Technician for our San Antonio, TX or Mooresville, NC office to support our Southeast Region Geospatial / Surveying Team. The successful candidate will be part of a team conducting registration and extraction of LiDAR data using Leica Cyclone, Microstation, TopoDOT, and other software. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with an exceptional management team, highly regarded in the market, and within a supportive and collaborative company culture. New Graduates with a BS degree in a relevant discipline will be considered.

Your Impact

  • Under direct supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from property/utility records, deeds, land/property titles, structural plans, and other matrices for land surveying activities.
  • Under direct supervision, use survey instruments to perform various types of property surveys on projects of basic complexity and/or scope, which could include boundary, existing condition, topographic, as-built, subdivision, and profile maps.
  • Provides entry-level land surveying assistance that accounts for accurate survey data, and determines conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, boundaries, and construction specifications.
  • Demonstrates team work and maintains open communication between the field, office and client.
  • Work with Team lead, project managers and other Laser Scan team members in LiDAR registration and extraction
  • Create and review digital models and mapping of LiDAR and other types of traditional survey projects
  • Processing Survey data
  • Perform Mobile Mapping Extraction
  • Observe and comply with all company and related safety rules
  • Use and obtain historical data from property/utility records, deeds, land/property titles, structural plans, and other matrices for land surveying activities.
  • Follows state specific standards of practice to provide professional survey assistance that accounts for accurate survey data, and determines conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, boundaries, and construction specifications
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and supplemental technical training in surveying and/or college level courses in surveying or business management
  • 0-2 years' experience with Laser Scanning Surveys and related software
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a diverse team
  • A working knowledge of surveying mathematics, land surveying practices and procedures
  • Experience in Bentley software
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Overall knowledge of conducting field operations
  • Understanding of office operations
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Ability to pass random drug tests
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • New Graduates with a BS Degree in relevant discipline
  • Bentley Microstation Experience
  • Associates Degree in Surveying, Engineering Technology or related areas
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook #LI-PJ1
