We are currently seeking an HR Manager to join our team. This is a newly developed role and this individual will work in partnership with leadership to support all offices in the San Diego region. The HR Manager will manage all aspects of an employee’s lifecycle in the workplace and implement practices that maximize employee engagement, efficiency, and retention. The scope of responsibility will include creating and managing programs related to recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, company communications, training and development, benefits and compensation administration, timekeeping and payroll, HRIS oversight and compliance with employment law requirements. This individual will interface with candidates and employees to provide a positive experience, and will collaborate with leaders regarding employee-related matters. The HR Manager will be instrumental in ensuring consistency in the treatment of employees, handling daily employee issues, providing effective employee communication, coaching, creating a collaborative team atmosphere, and addressing employee conduct and workplace behavior and etiquette.

Overview of Key Responsibilities:

Culture:

  • Educates and enforces the company’s mission and values, and consistency with regards to policies and procedures.
  • Initiates and coordinates employee engagement/relations projects including, but not limited to, employee appreciation and years of service recognition.
  • Establishes regular cadence for internal communication between management and staff.
  • Conducts individual (onboarding, stay, exit surveys) or organizational surveys to seek input from employees and monitor employee satisfaction. Follows through on identified actions in areas for improvement.
  • Collaborates with staff to identify best ideas to boost engagement and retention.
  • Promotes direct lines of communication between employees and between employees and leadership.
  • Advocates on behalf of the staff to leadership.

Employment:

  • Champions our employer brand in the local market and promotes the company to attract talent.
  • Interviews, screens and recruits job applicants to fill entry-level, professional and technical job openings.
  • Reviews applications and interviews applicants to match experience with specific job-related requirements as needed.
  • Processes new hire document and ensures compliance with USCIS form I-9 Employment Verification as needed.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinates employee benefits, leaves of absence, and worker’s compensation claims while facilitating the communication and administration of these programs with managers and employees.
  • Conducts compensation analysis and monitors all pay changes for internal equity. Partners with leadership in the communication of wage adjustments.
  • Administers timekeeping and payroll processing for accurate and timely payment of wages.

Employee Relations:

  • Guides management to effectively manage performance, including completion of employee performance reviews, goal setting and coaching.
  • Monitors employee concerns, identifies employment trends, and communicates and recommends solutions to leadership to enhance the employee experience.
  • Acts as an employee relations specialist by responding to employee relations issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, etc. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Attends and participates in employee corrective action meetings, terminations and investigations.
  • Supports conflict resolution efforts among staff.

Training:

  • Facilitates training for new hire orientation, incorporating education around company mission, values, policies and expectations.
  • Determines employee skills’ gaps and creates tools and/or training needed to strengthen skills.
  • Identifies, creates, organizes, and manages internal, external or virtual opportunities for training and employee development.
  • Tracks and reports on employee training completion.

Other:

  • Works on-site on a rotation between all company offices on a regular basis in order to monitor employee engagement and fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Partners with senior leadership on special projects.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least 5-7 years of Human Resources experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • SHRM-CP and/or PHR and PHR-CA certifications desired.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with proven ability to collaborate, communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience developing and executing programs that drive employee engagement and business results
  • Proficiency with Google Suite and Human Resource Information Systems. Experience with Paylocity a plus.
  • Payroll processing experience preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
