Scope

The purpose of this position is to plan, facilitate, and supply job information to the Artist in the most efficient and profitable manner possible, while offering support to Department Managers, and making recommendations on process improvements whenever possible.

Responsibilities of the Job include but are not limited to the following.

Job Schedule

  • Monitor the daily job schedule for your team
  • Conduct a team meetings on a bi-monthly basis with the team
  • Make certain that all artist hold a pre-planning meetings for any new business or problematic accounts

Production Management

  • Complete understanding of GOLD and most efficient workflows.
  • Complete understanding of prepress invoicing.
  • Work with the Prepress Supervisor for scheduling jobs to ensure scheduling needs are being met.
  • Work with the Prepress Supervisor on scheduling jobs to ensure the most cost affective workflow.
  • Take direction from the Manager, Graphic Communication Hub, on areas that require priority attention from team.
  • Participate with the need pre-pro calls for with our customers to achieve and exceed their expectations.
  • Communicate all problem or concerns with the Manager, Graphic Communication Hub via verbal or email.
  • Work with the Prepress Supervisor/Artist to prepare a quote for projects and submit to customer/sales
  • Work with the team to submit jobs for invoicing.

Service

  • Communicate service issues and ideas for improvement with the Manager, Graphic Communication Hub.
  • Ensure work instructions are written and followed by the team.
  • Work with the Manager, Graphic Communication Hub to plan staffing levels/load balancing, based on sales volume and customer needs.
  • Work with Technical Administrator on new workflows and technologies for deliverables of plate ready proofs/files.
  • With Graphic Services help, develop a new workflow using SAP to capture project tracking, employee times, and cost associated with projects.
  • Identify training needs for the team.

Required Skills
  • Effective Communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Must have a good working knowledge of Electronic pre-press systems, Esko preferred. (Trapping, Color Rotation, File Resolution, etc.)
  • Being a proactive thinker in order to help locate and provide solutions for problem areas in regards to all applications
  • Packaging experience
  • Ability to assume positions of effective leadership as well as providing active support within a team setting
  • Have a well-rounded understanding of the different printing process, offset and flexo; Gravure a plus


Required Experience
  • Associates degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Trade school or apprentice program.
  • Minimum 5 years working in Pre-Press or related field in Manufacturing.
