THE POSITION

Do you love the great outdoors? How would you like to work in a state park or forest district? Join the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) as a seasonal DCNR Ranger Trainee!


  • Full-time seasonal employment
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at time of employment
  • Must be willing to travel. Travel expenses will be paid
  • Must possess a valid certificate or its equivalent in first aid and adult, child and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as provided by the PA Department of Health for professional rescuers or health care professionals at the time of the interview.
  • Participate in structured and informal training to learn to provide visitor services, educational programs and information, and to enforce rules and Commonwealth law
  • Accompany supervisors and other rangers on patrol, assisting in providing visitor and law enforcement services, and assisting in preparing written reports

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

  • Must meet PA residency requirement – For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency.
  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Completion of 15 credits in natural or environmental sciences, natural resource management, park management, outdoor recreation, forestry, environmental education, ecology, wildlife management, or related natural resource or recreation courses.
  • You must upload a copy of your college transcript(s).
  • NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a valid Class C driver's license
  • CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Must be at least 21 years of age at time of employment
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions
