Description

SAIC is seeking a Junior Database Administrator to support the US Navy in Patuxent River, Maryland.

Note: This is a hybrid remote position with 1-2 days a week onsite at the SAIC office in Patuxent River, Maryland.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• The candidate will develop and maintain various forms of potentially complex applications and relational database models.
• These will be comprised of various languages, protocols, and interfaces for the purpose of customer data management and dissemination.
• The candidate will perform technical tasks using both standard and non-standard analysis, design, programming methods and relational database management techniques.
• The candidate will be required to apply analytical and evaluative techniques to design and implement solutions in support of the customer database management system.
• Candidate must translate business guidance into technical solutions.
• Design and implement features in collaboration with team engineers, product owners, data analysts, and business partners using Agile / Scrum methodology.

JOB DUTIES:

• Required to perform Database System monitoring.
• Perform Database backup/recovery - Optimizing stored procedures, and indexing
• Monitor performance and tune, diagnose and repair data systems.
• Guide the setup of database clusters, backup or recovery processes and cloud database implementation.
• Work with development staff to ensure that database deployments, access and security compliance measures are consistently met and with government guidelines and requirements
• Status reporting to information technology management and any assigned project teams when required.
• Participate in regular customer meetings to report project status, progress, and risks/issues as applicable.
• Will work with system administrators, program managers, information security officers, and other teams to create or update system policies and documentation

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:

• HS/GED and six (6) years’ experience; Associates and four (4) years’ experience; Bachelors and two (2) years or more experience; Masters and 0 years related experience with a focus or major in computer science, systems engineering, or related technical discipline is preferred.
• Experience as a SQL Server DBA or similar is preferred. Will consider hands on training or experience with SQL or similar databases.
• Candidate must be a US Citizen.
• Candidate must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

• 3 years’ progressive experience as a Database Administrator
• Knowledge of MSSQL, NoSQL, SoLR, Nifi, and JSON objects
• Experience with SQL Server Integration Services development, import, and export tools a plus
• Experience with R and MongoDB
• A proven track record and expertise in database management techniques
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment and lead other DBAs
• Excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills are required
• Capable of working under pressure, handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Experience providing services to the federal government is preferred
