SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position serves as the primary resource for the Metro 40 - Apartment Association affiliated group. A Resource Director is charged with building the operational effectiveness of their assigned local Apartment Associations through the use of performance consultation to assess highest business needs and the delivery of relevant services in collaboration with specialists and other NAA resources. The position will lead and prioritize the collective work of this group to leverage results in the areas of membership growth, program expansion, advocacy, business planning and implementation of promotional plans of NAA products.

The position represents NAA in dealings with association executives and their volunteer leadership. Specifically, he/she represents NAA’s policy positions and procedures, while supporting the work of each individual affiliate in their affiliated group.

*Metro 40 Apartment Association Groups represent above 75k units.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Assess each association’s highest business needs and create and deliver appropriate consulting services and impact-focused projects
  • Build & maintain effective relationships with associations leaders to develop high levels of access, credibility and trust
  • Encourage a collaborative operating environment through association-to-association collaborations
  • Support and provide resources to assist affiliates with meeting the NAA Performing Standards
  • Demonstrate the highest levels of operational leadership and maintain a broad knowledge base of issues and opportunities impacting associations
  • Educate associations about NAA strategic priorities and encourage them to embrace best practices in their operations and business plans
  • Builds authentic relationships with Association Executives and their leadership which enhance the enhancement of their services
  • Be a conduit of information between the Metro 40 and NAA staff and leadership
  • Listens and expresses self effectively and in a manner, that reflects a true understanding of the needs of the audience
  • Integrates logic, intuition, and sound judgment to analyze information to identify greatest opportunities, make sound decisions, and solve problems
  • Leads self and others through change by navigating ambiguity appropriately and adapting well to new situations, obstacles, and opportunities

TRAVEL:

Out-of-town travel is expected (up to 50%) for this position and sometime involves overnight and week-end travel.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in membership-driven trade or professional association, or national non-profit organization working with components
  • Bachelor's degree or applicable experience
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Extensive background developing and delivering strategic solutions in core service areas
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal/written communication and presentation skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must possess a proven ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with individuals across a broad range of stakeholders
  • Hands on experience in managing and understanding the complexities of state and local trade/ industry associations; and ability to provide resources to components in support of their work in challenging settings.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • CAE Certification preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is regularly performed in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $105,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
