POSITION SUMMARY:

Our Advanced CNC Technician is a technical leader that oversees training and operations of machine shop CNC equipment such as mills, lathes, grinders, presses, drill presses, CMM, or assembly of routine parts and to oversee production parts are being produced to required tolerances for preparation for the engine assembly. Will also be a driver for continuous improvement efforts in the safety, quality, and performance of the area.

The hours for this position are 7am to 3:30pm Monday-Friday with overtime as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Consistently demonstrate qualities of an owner, ready to problem solve and find solutions.
  • Performs equipment set up, make machine offsets, maintain tooling, and may perform minor operating modifications to equipment as needed.
  • Ability to use and understand general machine shop gauges, operate a CMM, and understand the CMM data to know when machines need adjusted.
  • Assess CNC equipment by reviewing CMM reports, make adjustments as necessary, check adjustments for accuracy.
  • Resolves basic production and machine operating problems, reports non-routine machinery failures to the Production Supervisor for assistance.
  • Assist Maintenance in troubleshooting of the equipment.
  • Fill in when needed to cover for absenteeism.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in the department.
  • Follows all safety rules regarding machine operation and proper guarding.
  • Maintains a safe working environment by following company safety policies.
  • Working with Materials Department to make sure all material is in the area before its needed.
  • Oversees daily Total Preventive Maintenance on the equipment to maintain their quality.
  • Assist in SRC Automotive’s continuous improvement efforts.
  • Works within production processes to ensure compliance with IATF-16949.
  • Participates in and supports the principles of Open Book Management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Regular attendance and satisfactory performance of the above listed duties is also essential to this position. Mandatory overtime maybe required and is also essential to meeting customer and performance demands.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed with exposure to harsh conditions such as: dust, fumes, noise, and varying temperatures for extended periods of time.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. An employee will be working at a fast pace to keep up with the higher volume production needs. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand; reach with hands and arms climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, go up and down steps and pushing and pulling on a hoist. Sitting 5%, standing/walking 95%. Frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of reliability. They will have motivation and drive to get the job done. They will be enthusiastic workers interested in growth and improvement. Other requirements include:

  • High School diploma or GED is preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of maintaining accurate finish dimensions to casting datums
  • Two or more years of experience operating and setting up CNC equipment preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in a manufacturing paced assembly line setting preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics addition, subtraction, and conversions.
  • Ability to work back and forth between the metric and SAE standards.
  • Ability to use hand, air, and power tools.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Requires effective relationship management skills with co-workers in a team environment.
  • Basic computer literacy required. Ability to use computer systems to retrieve work process and Bills of Materials.
  • Requires the desire to expand knowledge, skills, and abilities through training and education.
