Temporary Youth Development Officer Position

Organizational Background: Pacific Northwest Black Business Coalition (PNWBBC) is a start-up and Community-Based Organization. Our mission is to economically empower black-led communities, businesses, and people by eradicating systemic racism. Asset building, selling goods and services in bulk, lessening inequities, outreach, and community organizing is how this occurs.

Project Description: PNWBBC presents Get VaxxD-2.0, a comprehensive and innovative 14-week youth-led health promotion campaign designed to make getting COVID-19 testing and vaccinations a viral movement amongst underserved youth. Through tabling at community events and implementing a comprehensive driven digital marketing strategy featuring youth-led COVID-19 messaging on digital, print, social media, radio, and television platforms; underserved youth will raise awareness of the importance of making informed COVID-19 decisions about testing and vaccination in their own voices.

Position Summary

Covid-19 has had a tremendously profound effect on life as we used to know. “Get VaXX’d”-2.0 seeks to equitably engage BIPOC K-12 youth in actively letting their voice and reality be heard. The selected Project Coordinator will provide wide and varied administrative, leadership, and organizational support for the Executive Director/team. This position will have responsibility to provide guidance and coordination of team support. Preference is given to applicants from historically underrepresented backgrounds that reflect the youth and communities being served. LGBT, Veterans, and persons with lived experience with racism, disability, and/or homelessness are encouraged to apply.

Role Title: Youth Development Officer-This is a full-time temporary position that requires 40 hours per week. Must have availability to work between the hours of 10am-8pm on at least four weekdays a week. Weekend work is mandatory during the months of May, June, and July. This will mainly be Saturdays. Schedule can be adjusted during weekdays when this happens.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

· Responsible for leading, developing, and building relationships and social media content with the youth participants in the program. Will perform these functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the PNWBBC.

· Creates an atmosphere that is fun, safe, friendly, and challenging.

· Mentors and models responsible behavior while leading children in the GET VAXXD-2.0 program.

· Establish detailed documentation of all project records to maintain organized database and generate all project reports as needed and provide regular updates to Project Coordinator.

· Plans and initiates Covid-19, youth-led outreach activities and messaging campaigns.

· Monitors and evaluates programs progress towards identified goals and provides support in addressing barriers as needed, to include youth attendance and participation.

· Plans and participates in community events and public awareness activities to increase the community’s understanding about the needs of PNWBCC outreach program

· Develops and sustains collaborative relationships with community stakeholders that work to address Covid-19 vaccine hesitancy in the community

· Must be able to promote, lead, teach, and conduct group activities.

· Supervise youth at community outreach events.

CORE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

· Excellent oral and written communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts and can adjust to a wide variety of working styles.

· Proficient with MS Office and Google Suite.

· Proficient with Constant Contact communication platform

· Proficient with Social Media platforms

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years of experience or equivalent combination of lived and professional experience.

Location: Position is 100% remote. Travel is required to events and to lead class instruction in King and Pierce Counties. Use of personal vehicle is necessary.
