POSITION OBJECTIVE

Working under the direction of the Associate Director of Data Management, Analysis, & Reporting, the Data Analyst (Analyst) will collect source data and generate reports for the school, internal university departments, and external parties relating to rankings and accreditation.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Gather and maintain data to support performance metrics (KPIs). Schedule and monitor data pulls. Maintain detailed written documentation for all data programming and archival systems and maintain archives of data, programming, and reports to avoid data loss and protect confidentiality while maintaining accessibility. Monitor and analyze the quality/accuracy of stored data by following detailed processes to ensure data integrity. Troubleshoot data entry errors and/or omissions. Modify programs and queries based on constituent needs. (30%).
  • Provide detailed data and reports required for School rankings submissions in an accurate and timely fashion. Collaborate with departments for timely data submission. Validate, scrub and organize data submission into detailed, user-friendly reporting. Develop enhanced communications of analytical results. Prepare and archive all supporting documentation. (30%)
  • Coordinate data collection and prepare extensive documentation associated with accreditation annual and continuous improvement reviews for both the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and Higher Learning Commission (HLC). Audit data for reliability and usefulness for internal and external reporting. (15%)
  • Administer survey instruments to obtain student and program data that drive enrollment as well as operational effectiveness for academic programs, rankings and accreditation. (15%)
  • Follow university published processes and deadlines regarding applicant, current student, graduation, and course evaluaton data reporting. Collaborate with the school Registrar regarding grade submission, course evaluation and graduation requirements data needs (SIS Academic Advisement Module Programming). (8%)


NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. (2%)


CONTACTS

Department: Daily contact with school registrar, enrollment, career development, student services. Regular contact with admission directors/managers, program managers, department assistants.


University: Regular contact with UTech project analysts and database administrators, university registrar, alumni relations and institutional research.

External: Occasional contact with outside vendors and universities for systems and research.

Students: Minimal outreach for data collection.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in a data analysis position.

Education/Licensing: Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in data analytics, computer science or related field.


REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Rigorous analytical skills and statistical modeling; Ability to review and interpret large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.
  • Inquisitive, pro-active, thinker.
  • Ability to structure analytical results and present information in a manner that is clear and conveys the key messages in written reports.
  • Skilled in use of graphics, databases and related software to enhance communications of analytical results.
  • Advanced computer proficiency with MS Office, SPSS/SAS, Robotic Process Automation and database queries. Clear understanding of database structures and manipulation.
  • Ability to learn new programs and protocols quickly.
  • Advanced project management skills and ability to multi-task: demonstrated ability to balance multiple concurrent projects of varying priorities and shift focus from one project to another with minimal loss of productivity or quality.
  • Adheres to the highest ethical standards (FERPA, etc.) in regard to access to and knowledge of highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to meet consistent attendance.
  • Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and customers face to face.
