Here is a scope of work preview:

Planning

  • Work with Director of Fleet Management and other maintenance subject matter experts to identify maintenance standards, existing gaps in knowledge/skills and corresponding training needs
  • Work with the Fleet and Safety Manager to define annual goals and action plans
  • Identify and create processes for monitoring and evaluating training successes, key performance indicators, and methods for continuous development and education

Development and Delivery

  • Translate and interpret DOT regulations including out of service criteria, OSHA/MIOSHA safety standards and Granger defined maintenance expectations into effective training programs, staying up to date on current regulations and how they impact Granger associates
  • Build training programs and prepare teaching plans including instructional materials, aids, processes and procedures from entry level “apprentice” programs and onboarding programs to continuous learning up to master mechanic level work
  • Utilize diverse training techniques and tools that best fit the learning styles of the target audience
  • Explore and apply new and fresh techniques to keep the training experience engaging and meaningful

Assessment and Outcomes

  • Evaluate training success by measuring training outcomes based on defined goals and modify as needed
  • Ensure work is being completed as trained with support from supervision quality control reviews and inspections
  • Utilize training and performance data to compile and report outcomes and other related analytics

Here is what we are looking for in a qualified candidate:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Degree in organization development, instructional design or other training related field strong preferred.
  • 5+ years prior experience as a trainer, preferably in the maintenance industry
  • Strong working knowledge of diesel trucks and mechanical maintenance
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), and instructional software
  • Ability to coach and hold other accountable for learning and development
  • Ability to travel 40% or more to our various Granger locations in Michigan
  • State of Michigan heavy truck certification strongly preferred
