Job Summary and Qualifications

  • 1. Perform detailed fetal anatomic exams, fetal echocardiography, Doppler studies, biophysical profiles, nuchal translucency exams, 3D/4D imaging studies, and gynecological exams; including transabdominal and transvaginal procedures.
  • 2. Assist Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians with invasive procedures; including amniocentesis, fetal intrauterine transfusion, amnio-reduction, sonohysterography, and other invasive procedures as indicated.
  • 3. Prepare patients; collect relevant clinical information for completion of accurate procedures. Demonstrate effective communication with maternal-fetal medicine specialists, to include concise and organized case presentation.
  • 4. Perform patient care and daily tasks with a team approach. Interact with administrative staff, nursing staff, genetic counselors and maternal-fetal medicine specialists in a manner that promotes continuity of patient care.
  • 5. Render patient care in a professional, courteous, and compassionate manner; use National Patient Safety Goals at all times.
  • 6. Participate in maintenance of AIUM accreditation.
  • 7. Flexibly rotate through all HCA Market Perinatal Centers as needed to maintain staffing levels that accommodate patient volumes.
  • 8. Participate in Perinatal Center quality assurance program by performing audits of ultrasound studies on a quarterly basis as assigned.
  • 9. Attend and participate in mandatory departmental meetings. Attend and participate in departmental conference calls as needed.
  • 10. Follow HIPAA policies. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employees and patients.
  • 11. Prepare, utilize, and monitor ultrasound equipment. Recognize significant diagnostic information in order to maintain proper functionality.
  • 12. Perform proper high-level disinfection of endovaginal probes using Trophon systems. Maintain daily quality control according to infection control requirements.
  • 13. Perform all necessary computer operations; including reporting and billing functions (Viewpoint, PACS, Meditech, and HPF).
  • 14. Maintain a clean work area by following infection control protocols, sterile techniques, and proper environment of care standards
  • 15. Maintain supplies for all examinations. Assist with annual supply inventory.
  • 16. Pursues own professional growth and development. Maintains CEU requirements for clinical role
  • 17. Perform additional duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

  • preferred 1-2 years of staff sonographer with OB/Gyn experience.
  • Graduate of AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology and trained in ultrasound technology or graduate of an AMA approved School of Ultrasound Technology.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: (Required or Preferred)

  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers –
  • OB/GYN certification Required time of hire
  • Fetal Echocardiography certification within one year of hire
  • Current CPR certification Required at time of hire
  • NTQR certified for Nuchal Translucency/Nasal Bone required within 6 months of hire
  • CLEAR certified for Cervical Length required within 1 year of hire
  • Member in a professional organization in Ultrasound (AIUM, SDMS) (preferred)
