The Opportunity
Our Zulily corporate headquarters is in Seattle, WA, and this position is available for remote work in the following states: WA, OH, NV, PA, TX, FL, NJ, GA, VA, and NC. Candidates who apply will be considered for multiple open opportunities across our Data Platform, Experimentation and Decision Intelligence teams.
At Zulily, technology brings Mom's experiences to life. As a Software Engineer II- Big Data, you will explore new technologies and collaborate with other engineers to develop world-class technical services. Your team will deploy production code rapidly to keep pace with Zulily's changing business. You will need to Do What's Right and be mindful of avoiding technical debt, and you will be given ownership of your team's roadmap and relationships with product managers. You will be granted autonomy and will be empowered to Drive Progress and Embrace the Future as it relates to decision-making and general design.

Your Impact

Develop solutions independently and as a team member

Contribute to design efforts and discussions to ensure we enhance the customer experience

Review requirements, software designs, and code.

Lead the quality of the deliverables, balancing tradeoffs between goals and potential solutions

Collaborate, influence, and mentor other team members and partners by setting a standard through ownership, self-development, and collaboration

Ensure data quality and data governance, create/maintain data dictionary and related metadata.

Develop and deploy efficient & reliable data pipelines to assemble complex datasets that meet requirements.

Design the infrastructure required for extraction, transformation, and loading of data from different data sources using SQL and GCP 'big data' technologies.
What You Bring
-
Bachelor's Degree in computer science or a related field required
-
3 years of programming experience and 2 years of experience in database development and reporting with an advanced working SQL knowledge.
-
Experience in management, performance tuning, and troubleshooting database issues. and knowledge of Data Structures, Algorithms and CS fundamentals.
-
Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools such as Airflow, Composer DataFlow, etc.
-
Experience in "big-data" technologies and stream processing systems like Hive, BigQuery, Redshift, Spark, kinesis, Kafka, SQS, etc.
-
Experience designing and deploying production supported dimensional models, star schemas, and data marts.

Experience with challenge and multiple solutions in handling large data volume, whether regarding complex SQL queries and stored procedures, or brute-force caching, or paradigms of parallel processing.
