Your Role: What you'll be doing

  • Provide Safety, Health, and Environmental Affairs (SHEA) compliance support services for the ULA enterprise, including but not limited to operations in Decatur, AL, Cape Canaveral, FL, Denver, CO, Vandenberg SFB, CA, Pueblo, CO, and Harlingen, TX.
  • This role may include routine travel to Cape Canaveral, FL and Vandenberg SFB, CA to support launch campaigns, up to 20%.
  • Facilitate and lead internal and external SHEA corporate audits periodically at all operating locations.
  • Serve as primary SHEA focal for new construction projects at the Decatur, AL location.
  • Serve as ULA Point of Contact for onsite contract work to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Serve as ATF/ordnance Subject Matter Expert for the Enterprise.
  • Auditing work areas for adherence to safety requirements per ATF and DoD standards, maintaining site plans, and coordinating DoD/DCMA audits.
  • Manage enterprise responses to environmental inquiries from interested parties or regulatory agencies.
  • Manage environmental reporting and permitting (Tier 2, SWPPP, AST registrations etc.) for the Enterprise.
  • Continually evaluate workplace conditions to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state occupational safety and health standards.
  • Manage radiation safety program, to ensure it is compliant with state and federal requirements. Duties include but are not limited to: supporting Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) audits and managing all personal monitoring results/action plans.
  • Serve as Assistant Incident Commander in the event of a chemical spill/onsite incident.
  • Perform all routine servicing, diagnostics testing, and repair of gas detection equipment.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to improve efficiency and reduce wastes throughout the Enterprise.
  • Provide oversight of waste water treatment operations at the Decatur facility, and recommend modifications to increase efficiency in advance of increased production rates.
  • Serve as Laser Safety officer for the Production facility in Decatur, AL.

Your Background: What education and experience you'll need

Requires a bachelor’s degree and 6-10 years of experience.

Your Background: What skills you'll need

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Requires previous experience in Environmental and Safety Management Systems.
  • Experience with the AS9100 or ISO 9000 standard preferred.
  • Experience in the management of Environmental permits, including air, land, and water.
  • Requires experience with application of federal explosives regulations to general industry, including auditing work areas for compliance with safe handling and storage criteria and managing site plans.
  • Previous waste water treatment experience.
  • Must have knowledge and/or experience with the following regulations and standards:
    • EPA
    • Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM)
    • OSHA
    • Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)
    • ATF
    • Alabama Department of Public Health’s (ADPH) radiation management protocols.
