Primary Purpose:

The Senior Facilities Electrical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the facility complies with company and regulatory electrical standards and achieve availability targets. The position will be focused on supporting an industrial electric power distribution system supplied from the utility grid, emergency power supply systems, along with various electrical distribution and end-use equipment such as motors, VFDs, transformers, MCCs, Switchgear, etc. within the Cameron LNG facility.

The right candidate should exhibit a broad understanding of electrical engineering in an operating environment, preferably a gas processing facility. Extensive experience preparing and reviewing engineering studies, design drawings, documents, and material and equipment specifications. Must be capable of resolving specialty related engineering issues by applying accepted principles, codes, and standards. Must have thorough knowledge of engineering practices, calculation methods, design details, US and international codes and standards, procedures, and specifications.

The employee will provide electrical engineering discipline expertise to less experienced support staff, Junior engineers, maintenance and operations technicians.

This position is located in Hackberry, LA. Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) is required. Employees’ primary residence must be located within a one-hour drive from the Hackberry plant site. This measure will assure that response time for callouts is kept to a minimum, which increases the safety of our employees in an unexpected or emergent situation.

Responsibilities/Duties:*

  • Participates in the development, review and monitoring of electrical systems technical integrity plans and the approval of detailed procedures, practices and standards for the maintenance and operation of all facility power and distribution systems.
  • Oversees the electrical systems from an engineering and safety perspective and assures all modifications and/or repairs are performed professionally and in strict accordance with company procedures and applicable engineering and electrical codes & standards.
  • Provides daily electrical systems support to the plant to keep the facility operational. Improves and ensures the reliability and integrity of the power supply and distribution systems. Optimizes the electrical systems for efficiency and equipment reliability.
  • Develops or supports the development of proposals for facility improvements including design basis and preliminary estimates for capital projects as assigned.
  • Ensures that documentation for the electrical systems are maintained properly including: conduit diagrams, electrical loop sheets, single-line drawings, motor indexes, tag lists, etc. Participates in the Management of Change process. Uses computer assisted engineering and design software to perform engineering tasks and develops documentation.
  • Assists in developing and managing budgets and schedules to meet financial targets with an understanding of the accounting and procurement procedures and guidelines and abides by them.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:*

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering required.

Experience:*

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the petrochemical industry required.
  • A proven track record in trouble shooting and analysis of utility power supply and distribution system problems.

Skills/ Knowledge/ Abilities:*

  • Developing and/or maintaining and analyzing electrical models using ETAP or similar software (arc flash, coordination studies, load flow, etc.)
  • Design and/or maintenance of low, medium, and high voltage power distribution systems (34.5kV and below)
  • Protective relay programming and coordination studies (GE Multilin)
  • Knowledge of large, medium voltage Variable Frequency Drives and Motors desirable
  • A working knowledge of industry and government standards such as NEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEMA, API.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple activities timely and with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Self-starter with ability to work strategically with minimal direction.
  • Driven to meet and exceed performance parameters and work deadlines.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Must be willing to be on call, work overtime as required and handle emergency response responsibilities.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, run, sit, kneel, twist, bend, pull, push, carry, lift, reach overhead and drive. Most activities involve movement of either the upper and lower body extremities or both and the joints associated with these areas of the body.
  • Must be able to enter confined spaces.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders that ranges from 4 ft to 200 ft.
  • Must be able to lift equipment needed to perform work.
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment and other protective equipment as needed to perform job.
  • When outdoors, this classification is exposed to extremes of heat, cold, loud noise and dust.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and/or walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to sit at a desk and operate a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must be willing to be on call, work outside of normal business hours as required and handle emergency response responsibilities.
  • Must be able and willing to travel for trainings and/or meetings as required.
