POSITION SUMMARY:
The Reentry Specialist will be responsible for providing services to tribal members returning from incarceration and/or long-term incarceration and youth tribal member involved in the juvenile justice system. CNP&R programs include grant projects funded by multiple funding agencies and sources; staff will be responsible for strict adherence to all funding requirements.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares and validates program applications for service and funding.
  • Develop and implement individualized case management plans identifying participant needs and barriers to success.
  • Responsible for counseling applicants/participants in association with the program and services offered; and, provide advocacy, linkage, and referrals when appropriate and necessary.
  • Maintain statistical data on recidivism rates of adults and adolescent tribal offenders.
  • Develop and foster collaborative community partnerships with local prison, jails, facilities, state, and tribal courts, probation and parole officers, and other community service providers.
  • Provide information to program participants, their families, and the community regarding reentry initiatives.
  • Manage relationships with specified vendors and internal/external service providers as related to reentry participant care and direct services.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and uphold participant confidentiality at all times.
  • Evaluate and analyze data and situations accurately to develop an applicable solution.
  • Provide crisis intervention in a calm and non-defensive manner.
  • Act as a positive role model and mentor for staff, program participants, and community members.
  • Assist in establishing the proper data collection systems and encoding of data for grant reporting requirements and regular reports to the Prevention and Recovery Executive Director.
  • Maintain confidentiality filing system in accordance with Comanche Nation record-keeping policies and funding agency requirements.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and uphold participant confidentiality at all times.
  • Will be required to work collaboratively with all other Prevention and Recovery programs and staff.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.


REPORTS TO:
The Reentry Specialist will report to the Prevention & Recovery Safety & Security Supervisor. This position holds no supervisor authority.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Vision and hearing in the normal range, with or without correction. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs on occasion.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Majority of work will be performed in residential treatment center setting with occasional outreach activities and community events. Primary hours worked will be Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, this facility requires coverage 24-hours, 7-days-per-week. Work hours may vary depending on business necessity. Employees may be required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four (4) accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or closely related field and two (2) years' case management experience. Bachelor's degree may be substituted for equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must understand case management procedures to provide services to program participants that promote positive outcomes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs necessary for record-keeping and database.
  • Must display quality writing ability and communication skills.
  • Must understand processes and procedures within the criminal justice agencies/settings/systems.
  • Will be required to obtain First Aid and CPR training (training will be provided by employer).
  • Preference will be given to Comanche tribal members.
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver's License and be insurable under the Comanche Nation's Motor Vehicle policy.
  • Must be willing to submit to, and pass, drug testing; employment will be contingent upon successful completion.
  • Must be willing to submit to background check.


COMANCHE PREFERENCE
applies in accordance to the Comanche Nation Human Resources Policies and Procedures. Eligible applicants must submit proof of enrollment with employment application to receive Comanche preference.


INDIAN PREFERENCE
applies in accordance with Indian Preference Act of 1934 (Title 25, USC Section 472), Form 4432 must be submitted with employment application to receive Indian Preference. Non-Indian applications will be considered in the absence of qualified Comanche and/or Indian Preference applicants.


VACCINE MANDATE:
Per the CBC Resolution 150-2021, effective January 4, 2022, employees must be fully vaccinated by receiving one (1) dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine or two (2) doses of the Pfizer or Moderna Vaccines. Religious and medical exemptions may be requested and will be reviewed for determination.
