Our client, Gastineau Log Homes, the world’s largest producer of Oak log homes, is seeking a positive and organized Purchasing and Inventory Manager to play a key role in making our customer’s dream homes a reality.

The Purchasing and Inventory Manager will work closely with the Director of Operations and be responsible for getting the right product, to the right place, at the right time, and in the right condition all across the nation. The successful candidate must be a team player who also can work independently, is detail-oriented with excellent follow-through and communication skills, and can easily lift up to 50 lbs. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Planning, coordinating, scheduling, and controlling all purchasing and inventory activities to meet or exceed project standards and maximize the gross margin and income goals of the company on a project-by-project basis.
• Actively source material for orders from lumber yards throughout the nation and assist in locating delivery trucks near project sites across the US.
• Managing customer orders from purchase through successful delivery and invoicing, providing accurate lead times and verifying pricing, credit memos, invoices, and other documentation.
• Ensuring purchased materials and supplies are inspected when received, and meet specifications as contracted.
• Track and maintain appropriate levels of inventory stock for current and upcoming projects.
• Reviews open orders on a regular basis to proactively identify and work through changes, rescheduling shipments with customers when needed.
• Assists with the unloading of materials from trucks.
• Listens to understand the needs of both internal and external customers.
• Builds trusting relationships and seeks innovative solutions for all customers while always having the customer’s needs top of mind.
• Retains a mindset of always striving to make things better and applies continuous improvement tools and processes to every aspect of the role.
• Has a sense of ownership and personal accountability for actions.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in purchasing and invoicing, preferably with building materials.
• Minimum experience in one of the following fields: order management, logistics, or inventory management.
• Has experience and familiarity with construction and building materials such as different types of lumber and construction material.
• Ability to pick up at least 50 pounds easily.
• Good computer skills including Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets, Word, and Outlook with good typing abilities.
• Ability to effectively prioritize with strong time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to do what it takes and do what is necessary at any time.
• Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
• Basic math skills and ability to read blueprints.
