Program Director, Statewide 988 (Olympic Suicide Prevention Center)

This role is a fully-remote and open to applicants nationwide. The pay range for this role is between $125,000 - $136,800 annually.

Summary

Responsible for administering, coordinating and managing the 988 statewide networks of 13 crisis centers. Responsibilities include creating and ensuring a quality network of centers with the capacity to handle all crisis contacts received, creating a community of learning and technical assistance and liaising with key federal, state and local stakeholders.


Primary Duties

Program Leadership

  • Defines the strategy, goals, and objectives of the program, under the direction of the Vice-President of Crisis Care.
  • Forms a highly effective team and collaborates across divisions to accomplish the program’s short and long term goals.
  • Works collaboratively with 988 Crisis Centers, liaising with key partners and stakeholders to ensure quality 988 services across the state of California.
  • Provides leadership to program staff ensuring that the services meet or exceed contractual performance goals; ensures delivery of services in accordance with contracted guidelines and Didi Hirsch philosophies.
  • Forms a highly effective team and collaborates across divisions to accomplish the program’s short and long term goals.

Management Duties

  • Interfaces with related stakeholder agencies including but not limited to the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMSHA) and the California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES).
  • Performs managerial duties to include interviewing applicants for employment; assigning and reviewing progress of assignments; conducting performance appraisals; recommending salary increases; and developing higher levels of expertise in staff members by encouraging further education, participation in seminars and providing learning opportunities within program mental health and/or substance abuse services.
  • Ensures that established personnel policies are followed. Identifies staff training needs and ensures development and implementation of programs that address needs; participates in delivering training sessions to meet the needs of staff related to clinical/program needs. Ensures that all employees receive prescribed orientation and in-services.
  • Coaches staff in the development of their work plans, their assigned duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Supervises all assigned staff to ensure high quality client care.
  • Ensures that all program staff complete assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcome measures and/or other reporting data in a timely and high quality fashion.
  • Attends, participates, leads and/or facilitates routinely scheduled meetings as requested or required for the program, division, or Agency.

  • The employee in this position has managerial responsibility for a professional and support staff of two or more, some directly and some through program coordinators.

Program Quality, Compliance and Reporting

  • Measures progress against plans and stated goals as it applies to program documentation.
  • Reviews chart documentation and status reports prepared by program staff to ensure all legal, contractual, and revenue-generating reports meet or exceed required Agency and applicable regulatory agencies’ standards.
  • Ensures all administrative documentation is accurate and submitted within the established timeframe; gathers and analyzes information and prepares routine reports including those used to assess performance.

Financial Duties

  • Efficiently utilizes financial resources while maintaining commitment to quality service when requesting and purchasing quality assurance program supplies.
  • Assists Vice-President of Crisis Care in the development of program budget and ensures expenditures comply with approved budgets; monitors and evaluates budget issues and recommends corrective action.

Position Requirements
  • Bachelors degree required, Masters in Social Work, Professional Clinical Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psy D. preferred.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the mental health, substance use and suicide prevention services specific to the program that is to be supervised (e.g. Suicide Prevention Center, emergency services program, outpatient family services, adult, substance use services, residential program, etc.)
  • Support the values and mission of Didi Hirsch as related to employment.
  • Depending on program/division, demonstrated knowledge of Evidence Based Practices and/or the Recovery Model of treatment.
  • Know and comply with Agency policies and procedures, HIPAA, DMH policies and documentation guidelines, and other state, federal regulations relating to quality assurance and improvement.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership and management skills. Able to work under stressful situations.
  • Be experienced in the types of therapy and case management appropriate to the program.
  • Present ideas, information, and viewpoints clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Efficiently use the personal computer including word processing, spreadsheets, and other related software programs.
  • Have strong presentation and media skills
  • Manage employee performance consistent with defined Didi Hirsch processes.
  • Utilize analysis, experience, and judgment to make solid business and therapeutic decisions.
  • Demonstrate commitment to team objectives and Didi Hirsch philosophies.
  • Adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge.
  • Current California driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the Agency’s insurance carrier.
