Summary:

The Production Planner is responsible for all tactical activities to ensure on time delivery to customer commitments, operations and inventory optimization. Will support planning, scheduling, monitoring and controlling flow of material ensuring production activities, product specifications and deadlines are met.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Solid working knowledge of standard computer applications including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing initiatives, 5S, and other problem solving techniques.
  • AS400 and or JD Edwards skills preferred
  • Experience with PRMS and/or other ERP systems preferred

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, operations or related area preferred
  • Two years of experience in Material Planning/Capacity Planning/ Production Planning
  • Thorough knowledge of MRP systems, supplier lead times, and production cycle times.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct capacity scheduling in support of the master production schedule, plan and manage all production scheduling and material related activities for products
  • Review new sales orders on a daily basis and ensure all orders are entered and driving material accurately
  • Monitor and adjust component and finished good inventory levels to fulfill Kanban
  • Coordinate with warehouse department on inventory requirements, including maintenance of inventory cycle counts
  • Works with Customer Service to advise on order completion dates, expedite and resolve issues
  • Interact with Purchasing Department to communicate material needs
  • Planning and forecasting production schedule
  • Establish and maintain / review Kanban levels
  • Analyze product trends and recommend appropriate levels of inventory based on the trends
  • Create, review and manage production work orders
  • Review and analyze work order, purchasing and customer service inventory reports
  • Monitor and adjust inventory levels
  • Process debit memos, RGA’s, scrap tickets and sample requests
  • Advise and coordinate with warehouse department on inventory requirements, including maintenance of inventory cycle counts
  • Advise and coordinate with customer service on customer orders
  • Coordinate with purchasing department on incoming raw material deliveries and inventory levels
  • Operate in a LEAN manufacturing environment and strive to suggest process improvements

  • The physical environment is indoors in a controlled climate manufacturing setting. The noise level may be moderate to loud. Occasional use of protective clothing is required to maintain clean environment.
