Dr. Schar USA is a gluten-free manufacturing company looking for our newest Product Specialist in Swedesboro, NJ. This person would be responsible for supporting the product development process, portfolio management and related activities for the U.S. group as well as related marketing activities to include promotional and POS vehicles and consumer research.Responsible for food safety and quality and reporting deviations to key authority personnel.

Tasks

Innovation Product Management:

· Product lifecycle management from concept to phasing out of the product(s) across Bakery products/product lines - new products, switches, relaunch and packaging development process.

· Support all aspects of innovation and product development from concept to post-launch assessment

· Contribute to completing Stage Gate documentation, presenting and gaining approval from leadership to proceed to next phase

· Monitor market performance and suggest product improvements based on consumer feedback

· Ownership of building and distributing the final launch package to the sales team. (Sell sheets, pallet specs, data sheets, features and benefits presentation and other support materials such as expected FAQs to customer service representative)

· Support the innovation process for the U.S. teaming with marketing, management, sales and global team – make recommendations for new items (NPD & from existing group portfolio).

· Support business with above product launch responsibilities and desk research when expansion projects to new sales territories (e.g. Canada) and channels (e.g. Foodservice programs) arise.

· Maintain product information, spec info for sales, nutritional data) and sell sheets for all SKUs.

· Additional point of contact for product data partners (e.g. Item Master, IX-one, Gladson) and responsible for keeping their systems up to date with product data and images.

· Provide Omnichannel and E-Commerce Marketing teams with product updates for the maintenance of the website; conduct quarterly reviews on both websites to ensure accuracy

· Review and revise packaging, keeping track of any amends that need to be made and working with marketing services to ensure this happens at the most efficient and appropriate time.

· Maintain communication flow between US marketing and the team at our production facility – 1:1, bi-weekly meetings, monthly visits to facility

Market Research

· Maintain product and market knowledge by drawing up our strengths- and weaknesses-profile (ingredients, nutrition, sensory, pricing, etc.) compared to competition and identify our potential differentiation options

· Work with Category Manager to interpret syndicated market data and category trends (e.g. SPINS) in order to inform business decisions.

· Carry out tastings to ensure quality and organoleptic properties of new products and existing range products in collaboration with corporate PM, R&D and Market research

· Perform desk and direct consumer research where PM topics need to be informed (e.g. freshness sticker, switch to flow pack) with support from the Sr. Product Manager/Product Manager.

· Support Sr. Product Manager/Product Manager on broader market research topics.

· Perform store checks and report findings on the competitive environment; obtain competitor items of interest, quarterly.

Other responsibilities

· Support marketing team in the execution of all shows and expos by attending, working show booth as needed for sampling and product education; coordinate product shipment to shows and develop sample packs as appropriate. Must attend at least 2 shows per year, including Expo West

· Assist Product Manager with portfolio planning

· Keep track of budget for related responsibilities and report any changes outside of plan to the Sr. Product Manager, monthly.
