Postdoctoral Position Combatting Neurodegeneration at the Molecular Level

An entry level postdoctoral position is available in the Laboratory of Molecular Biology at the New Jersey VA Medical Center (just West of NYC) to investigate the molecular basis of disorders of the central nervous system with the goal of identifying targets for therapeutic intervention. Mechanisms important to the health of neurons will be elucidated with human samples, model systems, and neuronal cultures.
The successful candidate will manage research with state of the art methodologies including assays of gene expression and bioinformatics. These studies of regulatory interactions seek to identify susceptibility factors involved in CNS dysfunction that we can monitor with our home cage behavioral system (PhenoMaster) and other tests. The knowledge gained will advance work to improve the outcome of Veterans and others with conditions such as traumatic brain injury, Gulf War Illness, Alzheimer's disease, or ALS.
Qualifications:
The applicant must have a recent doctorate and experience with mouse models, molecular biology, and tissue culture.
This position will involve clearance by the Department of Veterans Affairs, a Federal Agency, requiring US Citizenship.
