The Patient Service Representative performs a variety of clerical functions to insure the efficient operation of the Orthopedic Surgery patient practice. Serves as a liaison between the patient, the physician, and ancillary and diagnostic services. Schedules appointments, secures authorization and coordinates referrals to specialists and diagnostic services.

Please note: In the event of an emergency, vacation and/or staffing shortage, this role will cover all orthopedic locations (Map 6, Wakefield, Tarrytown, White Plains etc.) as needed. This role also supports multiple providers and will be expected to work on Saturday and work later shifts as needed. Hours/Shift/Schedules are subject to change

Responsibilities

Receives all incoming phone calls and schedules appointments

Schedules patient transportation

Performs all appropriate clerical work in connection with the preparation of physician visits, insurance forms, clinical intake forms, etc

Obtains medical records on patients for messages, abnormal tests, etc.

Obtains authorization numbers for required payers for patients for durable medical equipment, ancillary procedures, surgical cases, etc

Interviews new patients in a timely fashion to register them on the initial visit and collects information regarding, demographics, insurance coverage, and payment status

Verifies insurance coverage status and collects and records payment utilizing automated systems

Qualifications

High school diploma/GED

1 year work experience

Pay Rate: 23.42
