We’re currently seeking a Patient Care Technician (CNA) for our Hospital in Leawood working PRN for our overnight shift. In this role, you'll provide basic nursing care to patients under the direction of licensed staff.

You'll also perform a variety of tasks in support of daily operations, including but not limited to:

  • Promotes the mission, vision and values of the organization.

  • Intake and output for patients including measuring height and weight, taking vital signs, collecting specifmens, performing catheter care

  • Cares for the patient environment, including, but not limited to:

    • Daily cleaning of patient rooms during stay

    • Performing bedding changes as necessary during patient stay

    • Stripping and cleaning patient rooms upon discharge according to facility room cleaning guidelines

    • Daily cleaning of kitchen area including washing dishes

  • Assists licensed staff by providing basic nursing care to an assigned group of patients

  • Assists with patients personal care including bathing, showering, shampooing, oral hygiene, skin care, dressing, shaving, toileting, transferring, turning, positioning, ambulating and transportating

  • Assists patients with nutritional needs including serving, feeding, and providing proper fluid requirements

  • Adheres to strict infection control guidelines including handwashing and universal precautions

  • Reports any/all exposures to infection control in accodance with OSHA and AH guidelines, policies and procedures

  • Reports unsafe conditions, such as spills, faulty equipment, wheelchair lock issues to appropriate hospital staff to ensure a safe environment for patients, families and staff

  • Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner, including placing patient’s call light within easy reach, raising bedside rail(s) if appropriate, etc.

  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with established policies and procedures.

  • Participates in department and clinic meetings and attend all scheduled in-service training as required

  • Represent Ascentist in a highly professional manner at all times

  • Understands HIPAA regulations and maintains the strictest confidentiality at all times. Has read and understands the company’s HIPAA Privacy Policy.

  • Complies with all regulatory requirements including OSHA, HIPAA, Ascentist Policies and Procedures and Ascentist Employee Handbook.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned/necessary.

Qualfied candidates will possess a High Diploma or equivalent, State certification/registration or graduation from a state approved certified Nursing Assistant Training Program or equivalent training in a related field or nursing program enrollment, and demonstrates proficient knowledge and experience in bedside nursing practices. Other key qualifications include:

  • Demonstrated ability to read thermometers, charts and testing equipment

  • Demonstrates proficient knowledge of emergency policy and procedures

  • Demonstrates knowledge of infection control in all patient care

  • Demonstrates proven verbal and written communication in English and interpersonal skills with the ability to listen, understand, and ask appropriate questions

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, other employees, patients, organizations, and the public

  • Proven track record in reliability and dependability

  • Demonstrates friendly, personal, and timely customer service skills

  • Ability to maintain a positive, courteous demeanor with all patients and colleagues

  • Demonstrates proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and email (Outlook or Gmail)

  • Demonstrates understanding of and experience using an electronic medical record (EMR) systems

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use general office equipment including phones, fax machines, copiers and other similar office technology on a regular basis

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of all internal and external communications

  • Demonstrates understanding of and ability to comply with all regulatory requirements including OSHA, HIPAA, Ascentist Policies and Procedures and Ascentist Employee Handbook

Candidates with a state certification/registration or graduation from a state approved certified Nursing Assistant training program and/or the ability to speak and understand other languages.

  • Ability to push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds unassisted occasionally

  • Vision must be corrected to near 20/20; hearing must be in normal range, or corrected to the normal or near normal range.
