Job Description:
Job Summary: The Production/Materials Planner plans manufacturing, assembly and materials schedules to ensure that machines for customer orders are delivered on-time. The Planner manages the parts and material flow, expediting as necessary, to optimize the manufacturing process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety
  • Demonstrate responsibility for the personal safety of self and others by maintaining a clean, orderly hazard free work environment, and compliance with safety practices and regulations.
Daily Operations
  • Plan manufacturing, assembly and materials schedules to optimize resources and deliver machines to customers on- time.
  • Check the progress of materials and parts delivery, component manufacture, etc. against the production schedule to determine if shortages exist; communicate related information to the appropriate functions.
  • Expedite shortages of parts and materials by performing follow-up to maintain proper flow of parts pertinent to assigned projects.
  • Enter engineering releases/BOM’s into ERP system to create materials demand.
  • Act as liaison among various internal departments to prioritize actions necessary to meet production schedule objectives.
  • Develop and review the production schedule and work order recap to ensure priority parts and machine items are manufactured in time to meet the production schedule.
  • Coordinate within the facility to balance available assembly and fabrication capacity.
  • Support divisional inventory management initiatives.
  • Provide training, guidance and general daily work direction to Material Handlers.
  • May supervise the shipping of machines and schedule transportation logistics.
  • Other duties as assigned by Leadership.
Leadership Support & Communications
  • Communicate materials status updates to leadership and stakeholders frequently.
  • Coordinate with site operations and engineering leadership team to plan parts and ship schedules to optimize assembly labor utilization and to achieve customer commitment dates.
  • Communicate work expectations, priorities and timelines to team members and any other matters that pertain to company business.
  • May participate in project-related meetings including design reviews, assembly kick offs, team and site communications, acceptance tests and post project reviews.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
  • Highly self-motivated, must work well with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to plan, manage and communicate workflow using multiple tools, including electronically, whiteboards and paper reports.
  • Possess excellent communication skills using various modes of communication.
  • Mechanical aptitude desired but not required.
  • Proficient user of ERP system, Infor XA/MAPICS experience desired but not required.
  • APICS certification desired but not required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years related production planning experience.
  • Lean manufacturing and/or operational excellence experience desired.
The approximate pay range for this position is $20-$22 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
ADA REQUIREMENTS:
  • Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for operation of a computer
  • Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about regularly
  • Lift, move, or otherwise transfer items up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards
  • Noise level in the environment is usually moderate.
