The Statler Hotel at Cornell University is delighted to announce a career opportunity for a Lead Housekeeper to join our Housekeeping Team. Our Housekeeping Team consistently receives rave reviews from our hotel guests. We provide immaculately clean guest rooms and public facilities, and the friendliest service you will encounter in a hotel housekeeping department.

As a member of the Statler Hotel’s Housekeeping Team, the Lead Housekeeper primary responsibility is to assist Management in providing guidance to Housekeeping staff during the evening shift. This position is a “hands on” coordinator, providing leadership while often performing similar duties alongside other Housekeeping staff. In addition to staff coordination, other duties include: linen room coordination, guest service, communications, risk management, teaching mission and other duties as needed. The Lead Housekeeper is cross-trained and competent in all Housekeeping positions and able to assist or fill-in as necessary.


Your role as a member of the Statler Hotel’s Housekeeping Team
:

  • Help to provide a warm welcome and outstanding, personalized service to our guests.
  • Prepare clean and comfortable rooms for our guests’ stay at our hotel.
  • Proactively identify any guest room maintenance issues and report them for attention.
  • Maintain and stock linen closets and caddies.
  • Report and handle any guest items that are left behind by following our standard procedures.
  • Help ensure guest privacy and security.

What we are looking for in a Lead Housekeeper:

A minimum of a high school education is required along with two years of hotel housekeeping experience. Must demonstrate knowledge and competency in the various Housekeeping roles. A Lead Housekeeper is a high-energy individual who is very passionate about providing hospitality and guest service. The individual must take pride in our hotel and conduct themselves as a hospitality professional. The individual must demonstrate commitment to adherence and executing of the Statler Hotels mission, vision, values and service essentials.


Preferred Qualifications:

The Lead Housekeeper must have completed or be able to complete upon hire, several training certifications, including: Hazard Communications, Bloodborne Pathogens, CPR/AED, First Aid, Fire Safety, Incident Reporting, Work Injury Prevention.


Strong preference for an individual with seamstress skills.
