Summary:
The Lab Supervisor provides day to day technical support and oversight to the laboratory team, developing the equipment, processes, and procedures used by the analysts in order to test product in support of Materion's requirements for customers and the ISO 17025 management system. The
Lab Supervisor reports to the
Analytical Lab Manager or
Director of
Analytical Services as appropriate.
You Will:
- Lead the analytical or assay laboratory group in providing accurate, timely, and cost-effective test results in support of Materion's business goals.
- Provide supervision for laboratory team members, including timeclock management, shift staffing, analyst hiring, OT/vacation management.
- Provide training and development planning, regular feedback and review, and all other aspects of employee supervision.
- Participate in organizational, budget, or other planning for the lab or overall Quality groups.
- Review/Evaluate existing testing/methods for potential safety concerns/improvements.
- Work in coordination with Analytical Laboratory Manager or Analytical Chemist(s) to manage ISO 17025 certification.
- Investigate data quality concerns and present findings/conclusions. Implement mitigation plans to prevent reoccurrence.
- Provide expertise in all ABQ site chemical reactions in support of manufacturing and T&I.
- Oversee safety aspects of chemical processes throughout ABQ sites.
Requirements:
- BS/MS in Chemistry (or related STEM field with 10 years relevant lab experience)
- Comprehension of instrument manuals; including flow diagrams and troubleshooting guides and ASTM standards
- Intermediate to advanced mathematical or statistical calculations
- Interpretation of customer specifications
- Understanding of requirements for ISO 17025 accreditation
- Strong background in inorganic chemistry
