Department Summary
The Institute for Translational Research is devoted to bringing novel diagnostics and interventions to patients and families suffering from neurodegenerative diseases, fostering translational research in neurodegenerative diseases at UNTHSC, and Create solutions for a healthier community. Our team spans basic “bench-top” science, clinical research, community-based research and clinical trials. Our translational approach is intended to foster discovery and expedite those discoveries toward the benefit of those suffering from brain disease. A particular emphasis of ITR is the development of personalized (or person-focused) medicine for Alzheimer’s disease.

Position Overview
This position will be responsible for data entry, data management, and quality control driven audits. This position requires the ability to enter, clean, and prepare analytical datasets. The Research Associate will collect, organize, analyze data and summarize findings. The Research Associate will assist in developing conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Advanced computer skills using a range of software programs including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, SPSS, STATA, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively; perform other administrative/clerical tasks.
  • Aptitude in general laboratory procedures, techniques, and documentation.
  • Willingness to acquire competence in new techniques.

Preferred Qualifications
B.S. in Science or Computer related field (preferred
Experience with clinical or laboratory data (preferred)
Experience with R or Python or other languages (preferred)
Attention to detail
Ability to follow established protocols
Eagerness to learn and self-motivated
Ability to work in a team and in a collaborative environment
Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills
