The City of Mont Belvieu, Texas is currently accepting applications for an I.T. Specialist in the Broadband and Information Technology Services department. The City of Mont Belvieu is a growing community located on IH-10 east of Houston, Texas in Chambers County.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the IT Specialist will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day support and security of the City’s IT and radio communications infrastructure. This position will contribute to the specialized and in-depth technical expertise required to assist the City.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receives and resolves problems requiring extensive analysis, application of multiple technical skills to support servers, desktops, mobile connectivity, network connectivity, or other associated user support areas.
  • Monitors and troubleshoots client networks, and connections to host systems, servers, and applications.
  • Monitors third party contracts and provides coordination with vendors, and contractors.
  • Monitors 911 telephone systems, call accounting systems, voice-recording systems, and other core application servers.
  • Develops standard operating procedures in accordance with departmental standards to ensure long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in overall systems planning.
  • Monitors and maintains the 911 CAD system and network to satisfy TLETS communications objectives.
  • Serves as a point of contact for all Mont Belvieu city employees.
  • Serves as a backup to the Network and Systems Operations team as required.
  • Flexible to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
  • During emergency conditions, all City employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situations and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.
  • Performs any and all other related duties or assignments as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Associates degree, preferred.
  • Two (2) years of related experience and/or training.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver License.
  • Successful candidates must pass pre-employment drug screen, job related physical and background check.

An equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions will be considered when hiring for this role.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates, Bachelors or Master’s degree.
  • Four (4) years of related experience and/or training.
