Job Summary:

The RN House Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of patient services for assigned shift. Remains on the Nursing Units providing direct oversight and guidance to the nursing staff. Assists the ADON and DON in the functional responsibilities of the department by providing input regarding clinical situations and staff performance. Assumes administrative functions. Secures medications from pharmacy and supplies from purchasing as needed The House Supervisor has working knowledge of all policies/procedures and is able to interpret to staff and makes recommendations for changes as needed.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Acts as clinical resource for nursing staff in areas of expertise
  • Follows all established policies and procedures for documentation and form completion.
  • Coordinates with other levels of nursing management and hospital administration to provide for nursing care on an 8-12 hour basis
  • Manages daily situations/problems encountered on the assigned shift and reports actions and recommendations to the Director of Nursing &/or Assistant Director of Nursing
  • Works with staffing coordinator in complying with PPD
  • Makes recommendations regarding the needs of the department in staffing and scheduling.
  • Assists in providing for the short-term staffing needs of the nursing department
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, staff, patients, families
  • Protect confidentiality in all areas as applicable
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical considerations in nursing practice
  • Ability to keep accurate records and write meaningful reports
  • Ability to execute nursing procedures and manipulate special equipment accurately and safely
  • Math computational skills of dosage calculations.


Education, Licenses, Certifications and Experience:

  • Registered Nurse degree from an approved school of nursing, RN license to practice in Oklahoma, One year rehab experience, CPR & ACLS required.
  • 3-5 years prior experience in clinical nursing
  • 2-3 years in rehabilitation nursing preferred
  • BSN preferred or eligible to pursue a BSN degree

  • Balance(Continuous) In walking, standing, carrying, moving patients, and equipment, etc

Safe Environment:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of Hospital specific and individual role in the fire/safety program including the following management plans: safety, security, hazardous materials/waste, emergency preparedness, life safety, medical equipment and utility systems.
  • Participate in the Hospital policies and procedures relating to infection control for self, patients, and staff.
  • Observe proper body mechanics and safety precautions in all job duties.
  • Communicate information about incidents involving self, patients, staff and/or visitors to appropriate parties, using facility incident reporting systems as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates the safe operation of equipment and machinery and follows procedures for reporting and correcting an unsafe situation.
