Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for evaluation, assessment and developmental screenings for the development of an IEP.
- Assist the Special Ed Director in collaborating with local Early Intervention agencies in the identification, referral, eligibility, and service provision of children eligible for special education services.
- Develop and implement intervention plans, and implement Individualized Education Plan goals.
- Show knowledge and understanding of the Disabilities Performance Standards, Early Intervention procedures, and the IEP process as stated in the Utah State Board of Education Special Education Rules.
- Assist in monitoring/tracking children eligible for special education, produce reports and data as required, and maintain records to ensure compliance with Individual Education Plans.
- Support para educator staff with behavior plans, and the implementation of IEP goals.
- Conducts developmental screenings throughout the school year.
- Make referrals to appropriate agencies and follows up according to program guidelines.
- Provide ongoing staff training on a variety of special education topics.
- Collaborate with parents, local Early Intervention agency, and Mental Health in identifying and referring students with suspected delays.
- Build/sustain positive relationships and maintain regular communication with other members of the educational team. Assist with problem solving when challenges arise.
- Review and adjust instructional planning and execution based on assessment data and collaboration with the preschool lead teacher and other members of the educational team.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child Development or related field, with emphasis or experience in special education, social work, and/or psychology. Must pass a background check.
