Seeking certified and experienced Underground Power Foreman capable of day-to-day power grid installation, emergency power repairs, and maintenance of underground power lines. This is an exciting opportunity in Suwanee, GA.

Position Summary

The Underground Foreman will perform a variety of routine and complex repairs of either Primary or Secondary power. In addition to safety and quality standards required to restore or install power transformers and systems, the Underground Foreman is responsible to the safety and efficiency of the power installation crews, contract laborers, and inventory and maintenance of equipment and vehicles required. The Underground Foreman must uphold all regulations and requirements of Commercial Drivers as required by State and Federal laws.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Walk out job site to plan construction path around utility locates.

Call in locates based on job blueprints and projected pathways

Coordinate work assignment preparation and completion with management and other workers.

Maintaining records and notifying Office Management of changes to crew schedules including meals breaks missed, scheduled an unscheduled absences and tardiness, and hours.

Obtaining road construction materials from storage yard and haul to job site.

Conduct inspections on equipment daily prior to starting job.

Maintain the “operator care” standards by ensuring that equipment and vehicles are cleaned and properly maintained.

Study machining instructions, job orders, or blueprints to determine dimensional or finish specifications, sequences of operations, setups, or tooling requirements.

Direct trenchless crews on location to install trenchless underground utilities.

Test conductors, according to electrical diagrams and specifications, to identify corresponding conductors and to prevent incorrect connections.

Open switches or attach grounding devices to remove electrical hazards from disturbed or fallen lines or to facilitate repairs

Identify defective sectionalizing devices, circuit breakers, fuses, voltage regulators, transformers, switches, relays, or wiring, using wiring diagrams and electrical-testing instruments (troubleshooting).

Install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution and transmission systems, including conduits, cables, wires, and related equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, and switches.

Install watt-hour meters and connect service drops between power lines and consumers' facilities.

Splice cables together to underground distribution lines, customer service lines, or street light lines, using hand tools, epoxies, or specialized equipment.

Inspect and test power lines and auxiliary equipment to locate and identify problems, using reading and testing instruments.

Maintaining a clean job site: picking up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards

Performing final safety inspection and verify completion of hook ups prior to switching on power

Working in both high and low voltage settings.

Maintaining and using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment including but not limited to safety vests, hard-hats, protective eyewear, low and high voltage rated gloves, ear plugs, and steel toed shoes.

Properly completing post-job Control Sheets for billing purposes

Notifying GA 811, applicable utility providers, and management of damages as quickly and safely as possible

Performing other duties as assigned by manager

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

High School Diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job

Must hold a valid Commercial Driver’s Class A License with tanker endorsement with up to date endorsements and medical standards

Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field and weather conditions

Ability to supervise others and lead a crew to complete tasks safely and efficiently

Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions

Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely

Ability to make independent judgments which have moderate impacts on the organization

Ability to write routine reports, complete Control Sheets for billing purposes, and correspondence

Ability to use data base user interface and software relating to primary and service power requests

Ability to use Google suite services including but not limited to Gmail, google sites, google forms, google sheets, google docs.

Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency

Ensure adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation

Minimum 5 years experience as Power Lineman

Compensation:
Compensation: Base salary commensurate with experience.

Available shifts and compensation: Available shifts all days except Sundays and Saturdays. Compensation depends on your experience.
