The newly formed Viterbi School of Engineering Office of Compliance is seeking a Financial Analyst II to work with the Senior Director of Compliance. Faced with the increased complexity of sponsored research and business requirements, the new Office was formed to provide guidance and resources to talented investigators, staff, and students to limit risk while maximizing our ability to attract and sustain robust support. The new Office is seeking a candidate who is willing to assist in promoting a culture that encourages ethical conduct and commitment to compliance.

The candidate will manage and assist with risk assessment and day-to-day oversight over various compliance matters.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Understand and serve as a resource for the regulatory burden associated with the conduct of sponsored projects. Including the broad range of University policies and state and federal regulations.

  • Be a subject matter expert for effort certification on sponsored projects. Ensuring all eCerts are completed in a timely fashion. Following up with administrators and faculty as necessary to ensure 100% completion.

  • The position will track Responsible Conduct in Research (RCR) completion based on the quarterly reports from the USC Office of Culture, Ethics and Compliance.

  • Complete risk assessments and audits on accounts. This would include expenditures, budget reallocations, and other items that impact our staying within sponsor and University guidelines.

  • Look at spending rates on sponsored accounts and trends.

  • Report findings to the Senior Director with analysis. This would highlight where things are going well or if there are concerns.

  • Work collaboratively to provide recommendations such as meetings or additional training to help with educating and correcting any behaviors.

  • Assist with developing training, processes, and procedures documents.

  • Work with the Viterbi training team and trainers on any adjustments or additional courses warranted.

  • Assist with helping to ensure annual disclosures are completed as required by the USC Office of Culture, Ethics and Compliance.

  • Assist with oversight and working with DCG to ensure annual and final reports are submitted on time.

Additional Information:

Work Modality: This position is eligible for flexible (hybrid) work. The Financial Analyst II will be required to participate in occasional meetings and work at USC’s University Park Campus (located in Los Angeles, California) on an as-needed basis.

Pay Range: The hourly rate range for this position is $92,200.18 - $103,911.06. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope of responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
