    Primary Purpose:

    Provide support and leadership for the ongoing implementation, and coordination of Early Childhood/Pre-K instructional program. Provide job-embedded coaching to prekindergarten teachers to ensure high standards of engaging, guideline-aligned, and developmentally appropriate instruction for the benefit of student performance and school readiness. Assist in program management and compliance with state and district policies, efficacious instructional environment and programs, and operation of all Pre-K programs. Support student achievement in the area of English Language Arts, with special attention to reading and early childhood literacy. Provide individual or small group instruction to students. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance.

    Qualifications:

    Education/Certification:
    • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
    • Early Childhood Certification (preferred)
    • Masters Degree in directly related field (preferred)
    • Bilingual Certificate/endorsement (preferred)
    • ESL Certificate/endorsement (required)
    Special Knowledge/Skills:
    • Knowledge of developmental milestones and learning needsd of young children
    • Ability to work with, grow and support teaching professionals
    • Ability to work flexible hours, be punctual and demonstrate a positive attitude
    • Display good communication skills and ability to receive and follow directions
    • Strong organizational, time management, interpersonal skills and enjoy being around children

    Experience:
    • Minimum three (3) years’ successful teaching experience
    • Experience in successful leadership roles supporting early childhood programs and/or team learning presenter, etc.
    • Experience in working with at-risk students
    • Experience in implementing Bilingual/ESL/Dual Language strategies with students
    • Experience conducting professional development for leaders and teachers that results in ever-increasing student achievement
    • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills with adults
    • Technology proficient

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

    • The Early Childhood Specialist will work with teachers and paraprofessionals to help implement best practices congruente with district professional development and goals.
    • Create and deliver workshops for teacher professional development in early childhood.
    • Ensure that Professional Development is provided to all ECE staff and ensure staff attendance at Professional Development offerings.
    • Facilitate sessions on instructional change.
    • Develop online tools and resources for teachers regarding best practice in classrooms, building developmentally appropriate learning activities.
    • Provide follow-up for instructional training.
    • Provide in-school support to teachers on an as-needed basis through coaching, modeling, planning, and mentoring.
    • Provides high quality instruction to individual students and small groups.
    • Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade-level.
    • Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of students.
    • Uses identified research-based interventions focues specifically on individual student needs.
    • Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress.
    • Provides data to school teams and participates in decisions about student progress.
    • Communicates with teachers, administration, and families regarding student progress.
    • Assists with identifying students for placement in intervention groups.
    • Participates in meetings with teachers, administration, and families to discuss student placement and progress.
    • Provides diagnostic assessments for students as needed.
    • Supports implementation of assessment tools and data management systems.
    Other
    • Work closely with the Director to coordinate and integrate early learning services to create a seamless transition into kindergarten for pre-school students.
    • Assist in the planning and implementation of the Early Childhood Education program, ensuring that required early learning standards are in place and integrated to ensure high quality programming at all sites, including desing and implementation of appropriate monitoring, governance, record keeping and reporting systems to ensure compliance with Early Childhood Education program performance standards.
    • Assist with the development and refinement of curriculum for early childhood educators that share the best practices in inquiry-based STEM teaching. Model these best practices in program delivery.
    • Conduct classroom observations to promote developmentally appropriate practices, sound program approaches to delivery of services, and impart culturally and linguistically appropriate beliefs.
    • Observe and monitor ECE instructional staff to ensure program and districte compliance.
    • Cooperatively participate in all program audits and reviews, notifying necessary district staff of all activities and program findings.
    • Coordinate and manage special projects for early childhood education programs; plan and conduct recruitment activities; develop and implement marketing strategies for early childhood education programs.
    • Collaborate with campus leadership to support teacher and student goals.
    • Perform any and all duties as assigned.
    • Successfully advances district initiatives.
    • Attends the appropriate trainings to improve knowledge and skills.
    • Provides staff development opportunities.

    Salary: $60,010 (based on 2022-2023 salary/187 calendar days)
