The Director of Urban Planning and Design role is an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in Urban Planning and Design as we expand our current operations. This role can be based out of our NJ offices.


Led by our passionate thought-leaders, our work is focused on Healthcare, Senior Living, Education, Healthcare, Corporate, Multi-Family and Government work.

Your Qualifications


  • Professional degrees in both Architecture and Planning/Urban Design (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a Planning role.
  • Architectural license and NJ Professional Planner license are required. NCARB certification a plus.
  • Familiarity with the New Jersey Redevelopment Act.


How You Contribute Each Day


  • Provide leadership and direct the urban design and Professional Planning market sector including client relationships and staff development.
  • Promote the Urban Planning and Design services of the Firm. Stimulate business development opportunities through thought leadership, presentations, community activities, social media, and other business development related activities.
  • Oversee specialized planning functions including largescale, mixed-use developments. Campus planning experience is a plus.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws.
  • Provide professional planning testimony to public councils, politicians, developers, boards, and commissions.
  • Coordinate with outside consultants and owners attorneys.
  • Research literature, methods and statistical principles related to urban growth and professional development.
  • Prepare required and applicable reports.
  • Budget preparation and administration.
  • Available for evening and some weekend meetings/events as required.
  • Contribute to/oversee the production of presentation drawings and renderings.
  • Ability to develop technical packages from concept to design development and oversee a production team for same.

  • Able to work efficiently and independently.
  • Innovative, detail oriented person experienced in highly visible, complex projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop good working relationships (internally and externally); with the ability to develop solutions for various levels of a project.
  • Excellent verbal, writing, public presentation and speaking, and graphic skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret research data for reports and apply mathematic techniques in practical situations.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Preparation of proposals, schedules and work plans.
  • Computer software: AutoCAD, BIM/Revit (a plus), Adobe Suite, Photoshop, SketchUp, Microsoft Office Suite, and other presentation and graphic software is preferred.
