Our client, a large growing hospital on the east coast of FL, about 30 mins from West Palm Beach, has a need for an experienced Director of Budget and Decision Support to join their team. Candidates MUST have hospital finance experience. Must be experienced in budgeting, forecasting, decision support (financial), etc. This hospital is growing, adding a new surgical center, new physicians, etc. Their fiscal year starts Oct 1.
**The Director they need must be able to help the leaders create a budget for a complex health system and gain the confidence of the Senior Leadership Team and be able to create solid proformas for new programs and services that we open.
Under the direction of the Controller and Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Decision Support is responsible for supporting finance and budgeting initiatives including planning, set up and training. This position will oversee the following and need experience in the following areas:
Finance:
- Support revenue calculations and journal entries for the monthly financial close process.
- Provide pro forma financial analysis for new and/or existing programs as requested by Senior Management.
- Create and maintain the five-year financial projection in coordination with the annual budgeting process.
- Assist Finance/Accounting team with other items and reports as required.
- Assist Managed Care team with payer analysis, negotiations, and other items as required.
Budget:
- Manage the annual process for creating the operating and capital budgets.
- Maintain budget software.
Reporting:
- Assist with variance reports and explanations for all hospital entities, including Productivity and MOR’s.
- Maintain performance and insure adequacy of reporting hardware and databases.
- Maintain, improve, and create dashboards/reports in various systems, including FileMaker.
Cost Accounting:
- Insure integrity of cost data, including scheduled uploads, downloads, and reconciliations.
- Review allocations of expense to appropriate departments as necessary.
- Maintain Service Line logic and reporting.
- Update and maintain cost accounting software and allocation templates.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Four (4) years’ experience in the hospital industry, with demonstrated experience in budgeting and analytics.
- Finance related bachelor’s degree or other business-related experience.
- Strong Excel and logic skills with knowledge of database interaction.
- Knowledge of software packages in use at the hospital preferred.
- A working knowledge of Structured Query Language product preferred
- Strong experience in healthcare with budgeting, forecasting, decision support (financial)
