GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Following modern library practices and guided by the University’s strategic vision, the Librarian is responsible for the overall efficient and effective leadership, management and development of library operations, services, and staff, including management of the library budget. The University is seeking a director with an entrepreneurial spirit who will embrace the challenge of continuous digital change while providing rich information resources for the entire University community.

CORE DUTIES:

· Provide information and advice on library services and policies and procedures to faculty and students and ensure that the library meets the needs of the University community

· Assess library operations, services, and implements improvements.

· Following best practices, plans, designs, implements, and maintains a broad range of teaching and learning tools including but not limited to web-based tutorials, instructional videos, research guides, lib guides and websites so that the library meets the curricular needs of the University community, including user services, reference assistance, instruction, and collections resources.

· Schedules the service desk including resource sharing, preservation, coordinated collection development, and student success.

· Provides information and advice on library technologies, policies and procedures to faculty, students, and the University community.

· Supervises, trains, and mentors full time and part-time librarians and staff.

· Assists with collecting/analyzing circulation data and assists with the preparation of reports related to the assessment of library utilization and in the development of strategies to enhance outcomes. Solicits input from the various constituencies on library services and collections.

· Works with campus stakeholders to promote the use of open educational resources and affordable course content.

· Researches and creates new initiatives that are aligned with best practices in librarianship and related technologies.

· Collaborates with the Office of Information Technology and Digital Learning and other members of the Provost’s Office to develop or modify new and existing infrastructure to support technology-intensive programs and services such as data management, digital scholarship, and digital publishing. Supports the collection development of library content through the collection and analysis of usage statistics and other collection data; this may include working with vendor data and internal systems. Establishes data collection policies and procedures. Manages acquisition of electronic library resources, including trials, licenses, renewals, and cancellation using appropriate systems and software.

· Maintains close working relationships with the academic community, including faculty,

· Creates, maintains, and updates records; monitors renewals for electronic resources. Reviews and manages licenses in conjunction with Risk Management and other campus entities.

· Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

· Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or related field from a university accredited by the American Library Association preferred. Bachelor’s Degree required.

· Minimum of (3) years of related job experience, preferably in a public and/or higher education academic library, providing reference, circulation, and/or instruction services.

· Administrative and supervisory experience required.

· Experience promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion and proven commitment to academic excellence and student success.

· Excellent verbal, written, analytical and organizational skills including proven team building experience .

· Experience with budgeting required.

· Demonstrated ability to work collegially and professionally with all levels of diverse audiences; commitment to providing exceptional service to all UNH stakeholders.

· Online database searching skills and computer literacy experience required. Ability to assess, learn, and implement new technologies and demonstrated knowledge of issues, trends, and technologies in information literacy, including modern professional library philosophy.

· Ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment.

· Experience with digital innovation related or transferable to the student experience inside and outside the classroom.
