Position Summary:

Repair and maintain commercial trucks. Role model and demonstrate the Company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety of self and others.

Fred Meyer also requires that all associates perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws.

Essential Job Functions:

• Model "Customer 1st" behavior; deliver and encourage other associates to deliver excellent customer service
• Read job order; observe and listen to truck in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures
• Install new ignition systems, align front wheels, change or recharge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts
• Overhaul diesel engines, using mechanics hand tools, welding equipment, standard charts, and hoists
• Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks; make adjustments using hand tools
• Lubricate moving parts and drive repaired truck to verify conformance to specifications
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Less than high school education plus three years experience in diesel mechanics; or combination of relevant education and experience.
• Minimum 18 years of age
• Ability to pass drug test
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work weekends and overtime on a frequent basis
• Ability to travel independently on a rare basis
• Ability to work any shift(s)
• Accuracy/attention to detail
• Ability to organize/prioritize variety of tasks/projects
• Familiarity with industrial truck maintenance terms and processes
• Valid driver's license

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Knowledge of Fred Meyer policies, procedures, and organizational structure
• Ability to operate a lift truck, lathe, press, electronic diagnostic and test equipment
