Job Summary:
In this position, you will direct an accounting department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, manages the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, analyzes accounting and internal control systems, and guides departmental staff. We are seeking an individual for this role who is able to motivate others by maintaining a positive professional attitude; exhibit integrity, reliability and leadership; and is capable of providing exceptional client services by managing self and others by responding with a sense of urgency, practicality and accountability. This full-time position is for a Controller who will work in our corporate location in Costa Mesa, CA.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead and motivate a team of accounting and financial professionals.
  • Encourage an effective, deeply motivated and collaborative team, focusing on the continuous development and growth of the capabilities and performance of team members
  • Manage all monthly, quarterly and year-end close activities and the preparation of consolidated financial statements, including GL analysis.
  • Review and analysis of the company's monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements
  • Evaluate all significant accounting transactions, research, and implementation of relevant technical accounting memos
  • Manage all revenue recognition; including policy development, and calculations
  • Develop integrated and scalable financial systems
  • Oversee the activities of accounts payable operations
  • Oversee the activities of the Company's billings and accounts receivable operations
  • Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques –
  • Review/prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management
  • Achieves budget objectives by analyzing variances in revenue and expenditures; initiating corrective actions.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Ongoing analysis of expenditures, summarizing information and trends.
  • Oversee and prepare filing of state sales and use taxes and property taxes
  • Develop cross-functional processes and/or structures that improve the efficiency of the finance organization
  • Develop departmental goals, policies and operating procedures
  • Partnering with other departments on accounting matters to include clinic operations, sales, marketing, supply chain, IT and HR
  • Oversee various other internal and external reporting requirements develop processes and business partner relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners that will improve the flow of financial information within and about the Company
  • Continuously improve processes and systems by developing compelling, insightful recommendations based on quality data analysis and lead execution against recommendations quickly and with flawless accuracy.
  • Oversee the Sales Compensation including the production of all sales compensation plans and the monthly calculation of sales compensation.
  • Establish, implement, and oversee appropriate internal controls and policies to ensure conformance and compliance with US GAAP and other statutory requirements
  • Capable of handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance
  • 7 -10 years of experience in Finance, Accounting, Audit or related areas
  • Proficiency PowerPoint
  • Expert in Excel
  • Knowledge of MAS Sage 100
  • Management experience in leading accounting professionals and interfacing cross-functional teams is desired.
  • State sales and use tax and property tax
  • Experience with inventory management
  • Public accounting experience with a Big 4 or large regional accounting firm.
  • Knowledge of GAAP with experience in the healthcare industry.

  • Outstanding technology and analytic skills
  • Experience with inventory management
  • Proven track record of building new capabilities, with a process orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally to accomplish complex projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills—someone that is effective at tailoring communication to their audience and listens to understand.
