Position Summary

Hazen Paper is seeking an energetic hands-on individual with a strong coating process engineering background to join our manufacturing team in Holyoke, MA. Work with great colleagues, in Operations, where innovation drives meaningful change and adds business value.

The individual will be working in a roll-to-roll (RTR) production facility, capable of coating, laminating, thermal drying, rotary embossing, vacuum metalizing, finishing, and web handling across a range operations Products are based on the design of polymerics coating and adhesives, applied to paper, film and foils bases.

The individual will provide operational, technical, and production support to the site manufacturing facilities, across a broad range of project activities. Production troubleshooting and root case analysis is a key job function with focus on data driven problem solving. The individual will support Manufacturing to work safely, increasing yield and productivity, reducing waste and achieving consistent high quality. Will also assist on scaleup of new and improved products, advance on-line process control, and write procedures and training memos to enable front line knowledge and understanding. The individual must have strong interpersonal and communication skills working in a dynamic production environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Apply RTR coating process knowhow to driving meaningful change and implementing process improvement projects/program in facility manufacturing. Build project commitment and lead process team. Provide RTR expertise to the company
  • Demonstrate self confidence in working and collaborating with co-workers in a fast paced, production line setting. In troubleshooting efforts, leads by example, responding to and identifying problems in a timely manner and acting with a sense of urgency as required
  • To guide technical efforts, build a solid understanding of key process parameters, that leverage product quality and end use performance. Apply fundamental knowledge in the design and application of polymer coatings, metallics and adhesives, and in mix preparation of these material
  • Utilize DAQ on-line monitoring systems to measure and track process variation real-time, during production runs, to assist in process control. Utilize quality widows as a tool for tracking key manufacturing performance metrics and develop actionable plan for improvement.
  • Applies strong mechanical skills to pin-point and help resolving complex process problems related to machine/equipment performance.
  • Issue reports to review progress on process improvement projects and key troubleshooting efforts. Update status, summarize findings, document results supported with descriptive charts and graphs, applying SPC and QC methodology.
  • Help coordinate production activities with logistics, maintenance and quality control, focusing on efficiency run sequencing and best utilization of human resources, machines and materials.

Qualifications:

BS Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical) with 3-5 years manufacturing experience in Roll-to-Roll (RTR) coating process technology

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
