- Back office duties
- Understand common and rare illnesses, as able, which may present to the Health Center.
- Interview students on phone or in person to determine chief complaint.
- Manage appointment schedule book for Women's Health Center Patients
- Recognize emergencies or deviations from common ailments that might endanger a student / patient.
- Obtain and record Vital Signs accurately.
- Practice within abilities and within established standards of medical assisting
- Maintain current licensure with the State of Utah.
- Perform such other nursing duties, as direct by the Administrative Nurse.
- Assist patients in preparation for examination or treatment.
- Understand variations in procedures, and equipment used by individual providers.
- Anticipate what will be used and make certain it is available.
- Prepare equipment or other items for use during the examination or treatment.
- Assist care provider with examination, treatment, or education, as requested.
- Assist patient with aftercare plans, dressings, and follow-up arrangements.
- Prepare equipment and exam room for next patient.
- Drawing Labs and performing clia waved tests
- Administer nebulizer treatments
- Assist in procedures and suture removal
- Do EKG's as needed.
- Accession of lab specimens
- Occasional Front office duties
- Assist patients arriving at the Health Center, greeting them and directing them into the other areas of the Center
- Verify eligibility of the patient to use the Health Center
- Notify nurse of patient arrival and deliver medical record
- Notify patients if delay in visit will occur, and assist nurse in modifying schedule
- Notify nurse if special conditions or emergency exists.
- Answer the telephone as needed, and assess needs of the caller
- Refer telephone callers to nurse, schedule visit as needed, or provide other assistance as able.
- Notify physician or nurse immediately if emergency or dangerous conditions exist.
- Screen for non-emergency calls. Take messages as necessary
- Prepare and maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the Health Center waiting area
- Duties as member of the healthcare team
- Maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients and staff to facilitate exchange of information.
- Participate in informal and formal educational situations the health center
- Maintain a current fund of knowledge applicable to the practice of nursing in Student Health, including current standards of care, treatments and procedures applicable to a student population.
- Share information appropriately and confidentially with students.
- Assist with educational meetings and Health Fairs sponsored by Health Center.
- Current State of Utah CNA or MA certificate
- Dependable

- Great communication and listening skills
- Experience in a medical office is preferred
