As a Cable Technician 1, you will:

  • Work as part of a crew performing various tasks such as pulling, terminating and testing copper and fiber cable, installing cable tray and various other types of cable support hardware.

A week in the life of a Cable Technician 1:

  • Use hand tools, including various punch tools, test equipment, and various power tools such as hammer drills and saws.
  • Use various types of copper and fiber cable and termination hardware as well as termination and testing procedures used on a day to day basis.

Job Requirements
  • Experienced in the use of hand tools – example: screwdrivers, power drills
  • Ability to follow direction from various sources
  • High School Graduate – Additional Trade School preferred

Additional Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, and up to 75 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to differentiate color for color coded wiring
  • Manual dexterity, small tool work
  • Ability to work in various environments – Office, Retail and Construction
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both through written and verbal methods
  • Ability to climb ladders, reach overhead, kneel down for long periods of time
  • Must have reliable transportation – jobs will be within DC Metro area – to include Maryland and Virginia – not always within access to Metro
