The Bookkeeper for the Corporate Office is responsible for managing employer and employee tax contributions and reconciliations. This role is critical to ensuring the organization is compliant with tax legislation. Applies principles of accounting to perform accounting tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of payroll and sales tax transactions. This includes processing, distribution, and maintenance of records by performing the following duties.

Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Accounting and CFO:

  • Calculating employee and employer tax amounts.
  • Preparing and filing Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly Tax reports for U.S. federal, state, and local income tax.
  • Reconciliation of Payroll Tax Deductions with the general ledger.
  • Monitoring of Legislative changes and incorporation to the ERP system.
  • Posts accounts payable invoices in the ERP system.
  • Generate reports for management and audits.
  • Handling tax-related queries.
  • Processing payments for payroll tax deductions and sales tax payments.
  • Imports and uploads files; creates new import files for Excel as needed.
  • Generates and issues state W-2 forms at the end of the year.
  • Complete other business tax returns.
  • Update Census reporting monthly, quarterly, and yearly.
  • Assist in filling out tax forms and notices and verifying entity information via taxing authority websites and call centers as necessary.
  • Apply for federal and state tax IDs.
  • Assist with special projects including audits.
  • Identify opportunities to improve current processes and procedures related to the tax accounting functions.

The Ideal Candidate
If you are an experienced Payroll Tax professional who is passionate and ready to take on the challenge of working in a complex, diverse, people-first culture, then you have what it takes to be a successful Payroll Tax Specialist for the Corporate Office. Job requirements include:

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or Technical School; or minimum one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Accounting Software, Contact Management Systems, Database Software, Human Resources systems, Payroll systems, MS Office, and working knowledge of Internet applications.
  • Valid State Driver’s License.
