Bookkeeper (Part-time)

Position:

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining the financial records of ‘r kids, Inc.; ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions. This part-time role will require proficiency in accounting and financial management, with an ability to operate with a high level of detail and accuracy. The successful candidate must have excellent communication and collaboration skills, as well as an ability to operate in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

Responsibilities:

- Manage and reconcile bank accounts, credit cards and petty cash and donations from private donors

- Maintain an accurate general ledger and prepare monthly financial statements

- Process payroll, including calculating taxes and deductions

- Prepare and file government remittances (GST, PST, etc.)

- Manage accounts payable and receivable

- Assist with annual budget preparation and month end and year end financial reports

- Prepare and maintain documentation for external audits

- Work with other members of the organization for grant reporting, budgets, and other financial related activities

- Maintain a strong relationship with the Executive director and responsive to the needs of the Board Treasurer

Requirements:

- Minimum of 4+ years of bookkeeping with some accounting experience

- Knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage and donor software

- Proficient in MS Office, in particular Excel

- Ideally familiar with non-profit reporting requirements and State systems of budget reports

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently

- A relevant degree or diploma in accounting or finance is an asset

- Must possess a valid CT Driver’s license and pass the State Background check and the DCF background check

- Mandatory COVID vaccination policy organization

Working Conditions:

- This is a part-time position, approximately 20-25 hours per week ; M-F Occasional evenings may be involved relative to Board presentations, if needed, although infrequent.

- Working hours may vary based on organizational needs and cycle demands

- This is an on-site working role, with occasional remote abilities of time, and occasional meetings with other members of other organizations and funders

- This position reports to the Executive Director or equivalent senior management of the organization

Compensation and benefits:

- Hourly rate dependent upon experience and qualifications

Annual benefits include (13) 4 hour holidays, and PTO time in accordance with organizational policy

WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS

The Office Manager works in a typical office setting that is ADA compliant. S/he may share space with other office staff and work with other staff in close proximity.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ ADA

A typical day includes sitting, standing, bending, walking, lifting, keyboarding, and phone work. Additionally, the employee may need to drive and climb stairs.

HIPPA

The employee in this position has access to client specific information and client charts and must complete full HIPPA training.

OSHA

This is a Category 2 job classification per OHSA standards. The employee in this position will not have exposure to blood borne pathogens.
