Description/Job Summary

HGL provides environmental engineering, remediation, and construction services, as well as Military Munitions Response Program support to the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Energy, and other federal and state government clients. Currently, HGL has a position open for an Entry Level Associate Geophysicist to provide direct support in cleaning up sites contaminated with military munitions and explosives of concern (MEC). These items are also known as Unexploded Ordnance (UXO). Support will consist of collecting, processing, and analyzing geophysical data. The person hired may work remotely or at an HGL office. The Denver, CO office is the preferred work location.

Responsibilities/Duties

• Collection of geophysical data
• Processing of Digital Geophysical Mapping (DGM) and Advanced Geophysical Classification (AGC) data
• Interfacing with project geophysicists, Senior Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Supervisors, and project managers on staffing and resource needs for geophysical surveys
• Reviewing and developing the geophysical survey portions of work plans
• Incorporating safety and quality standards during the collection of geophysical survey data

Responsible for assigned tasks in conformance with directives set forth by HGL Policy, Director of Operations, and approved safety and health plans, munitions response Data Item Descriptions, and applicable client safety requirements (e.g. EM 385-1-1). Travel is required.

Required Skills

Ability to work in remote locations and in all weather conditions.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with industry standard software used for munitions response (Oasis Montaj)
• Familiarity with AGC sensors (e.g., Metal Mapper, MPV, APEX, etc.) or with positioning systems (e.g., GPS, RTS, SLAM, etc.).
• Demonstrated outdoor skills and leadership abilities
• Python and SQL skills

Required Experience

2-4 years of directly related experience in utilizing geophysical techniques in support of Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) projects or a Master's degree in Geophysics, Engineering, or Geology.

Preferred Experience

2+ years of directly related experience in utilizing geophysical techniques in support of MMRP projects.

Required Education

Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Geophysics, Engineering, or Geology.

Details

A pre-hire drug test and physical is required. Position requires US Citizenship. Up to 60% travel is required.

This position's initial salary range is $41,000-$62,500. The final salary can be impacted by various factors including, but not limited to, contractual requirements, geographic location, job-related education, training, experience, and skills.
