Job Description


The Associate Chemist applies knowledge and skills to perform diverse and complex laboratory procedures and /or specialized technical, and administrative services requiring application of equivalent technical knowledge in a quality control laboratory.

Work Schedule: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm (Monday - Friday)

Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine sample testing. Processes samples for chemical and /or biological analyses. This may involve collecting specialized samples in various production areas
  • Sets up and dismantles instruments and apparatus. Prepares specialized solutions/suspensions such as mobile phases or media to perform essential laboratory procedures
  • Makes and records observations, performs calculations, collects and prepares data for evaluation
  • Reports results of assignments, maintains and performs related record keeping
  • Maintains, calibrates, validates, monitors, and troubleshoots laboratory instruments
  • Participates in designing and conducting investigation studies of atypical results
  • Responsible for adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) that are in effect assuring the quality and quantity of product produced.
  • May either handle hazardous waste or supervise individuals who handle hazardous waste

Qualifications
  • 1 year analytical laboratory experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or a related science field or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
  • Technical skills handling laboratory equipment and performing wet chemistry techniques (UV/Vis, FT-IR, NIR, pH, titrations, etc.)
  • High level of organizational skills, good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Must be able to multi-task and follow-up when responses are needed
  • Must be able to respond to verbal and written instructions
  • Must be able to read and execute in-house or compendial test methods
