Summary:

  • Plans, directs and coordinates the daily activities of all personnel within Allied Trades.
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of allied trades support work; work includes but not limited to welding, machining, equipment painting, and body repair.
  • Maintains assigned equipment operational by enforcing Preventative Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) while maintaining equipment service schedules and ensuring equipment is operated safely by licensed operators.
  • Supervises all allied trades workers.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials. Establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by the Maintenance Manager. Coordinates work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors. Redirects individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work. Participates with the Maintenance Manager in the initial planning of current and future work schedules, staffing needs, estimates, and recommendations as to scheduling projected work.
  • Investigates work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes. Implements corrective actions within their authority to resolve work problems.
  • Plans and establishes overall leave schedules. Determines training needs of subordinates and arranges for accomplishment. Sets performance standards and makes formal appraisals of subordinate work performance.
  • Implements regulatory safety requirements and ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.
  • May be required to perform such additional duties as snow removal, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have at least five years' supervisory experience and have comprehensive knowledge of Army logistics and STAMIS; the ability to provide information and reports, resolve issues and recommend actions to improve delivery of services.
  • Must possess the appropriate verbal and written communication skills to conduct meetings, execute plans, prepare reports, and working instructions.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Military background in maintenance management preferred.
